Khalili CollectionDr. Nasser Khalili, an Iranian-born Jew and collector of Islamic art donated £2.25m to Oxford University. The Gift will be used to set up the Khalili Research Centre which “will ensure Islamic arts and languages such as Aramaic will be permanently taught at the college.”

Khalili is considered perhaps the greatest collector of of Islamic ancient and modern art in the world, with a collection estimated to be worth upwards of $1.5 billion. Khalili is also the Chairman of the Maimonides Foundation, “… a joint Jewish-Muslim interfaith organisation, which fosters understanding, dialogue, and co-operation between Jews and Muslims …”

Do I even need to mention how remarkable this is in this day and age?
