Has Amy Chua won? Can her frightening “traditional Chinese” parenting methods actually be valid? Her daughter Sophia Chua-Rubenfeld, just got accepted to Harvard – that’s some pretty darn good validation, no? We know this because Sophia announced it on her blog. Thus far her blog demonstrates that whatever it was her Tiger Mother put her through, Sophia remains a pretty normal, well balanced and poised young woman, this despite being called a “famewhoring squint-eyed kike slut,” amongst other things in the comments section.

Speaking of “kikes,” thanks to her blog, we finally get to meet the Jewish part of the equation, Sophia’s Dad! Professor Jed Rubenfeld is the Robert R. Slaughter Professor of Law at Yale Law School. He is an expert on constitutional law, criminal law, privacy, and the First Amendment. Apparently he’s a pool shark, likes Shakespeare, wrote a best selling book on law and authored the family’s Passover Haggadah. Where wife Amy is, frankly, scary, Jed seems pretty chill. I have a hard time imagining Sophia as a product of Amy, but a Dad like Jed seems perfectly… appropriate. So uhm… can we score one for the Jews? Can we?

Anyhow, Sophia plays piano, right? So if Grace Oberhofer makes it off the waiting list and gets accepted to Harvard (we’re rooting for ya Grace!), maybe they can hang out and compose and perform some amusing Harvard related ditties. It’s the stuff that BFF’s are made of!
