Last night marked the begining of Israel’s Memorial Day, in which the nation commemorates all those who fell defending the country as well as the civilian victims of terrorism. There were a number of public ceremonies including the above lowering of the flag at half mast at the Kotel. At 8 pm a siren sounded throughout the country and people stood at attention for a minute of silence.
