For Pat Farmer, a man who has run from the North Pole to the South Pole to raise money for the Red Cross, conventional is just simply not an option, that’s probably why an Australian ultra-marathon runner who had never been to the middle east, decided to commit himself to such challenging mission. The Middle East Peace Run took place over 20 days starting on May 1st of this year. Covering 1,500 kilometers through Lebanon, Jordan, Israel and the West Bank, the equivalent of two marathons per day. In each country local supporters ran alongside Pat and joined him at landmark moments. There were four goals to this project: To strengthen popular aspirations to peace; to bring people together through sport; to promote the positive value of sport; and to highlight the region’s fine and unique attractions and people.

Listen to the interview Pat gave to This Is-Real a few days before he set up for his new challenge.
