Eurovision Israel Countdown (and Singer and Lyrics Revealed)

In less than two months, on May 13, 2017, the finals for Eurovision will take place in Kyiv (Kiev), Ukraine.

A few weeks ago, on February 13, Israel selected the singer who will represent the nation. And then it selected the song he will sing.

The singer is Imri Ziv, a 25 year old native of Hod HaSharon, Israel, who is Israel’s Hebrew dubber for “Trolls” and a former contestant on the first season of Israel’s “The Voice” where he was on Team Rami (Kleinstein). He is an Israeli with Romanian-Jewish and Ukrainian-Jewish heritage. When a student at Ilan Ramon High School he was in a boy band. His post grad, post IDF education was in Herzliya.

Ziv won via an overwhelming number of votes by viewers in Israel, beating out the opinions of the judges: Keren Peles, Harel Skaat, Static and Ben El Tavori, and Assaf Amdursky. Ziv won over Julietta Agronov, 30, with her one hit wonder of The Best Guys (Habachurim Hachi Tovim); Diana Golby, 25, the winner of Season 8 of Kochav Nolad in 2010; and Element, a beat box group that had been part of The Voca People.

Imri is singing the song titled “I Feel Alive,” which was written by Dolev Ram and Penn Hazut. The bookies in London put Israel’s odd’s of winning at 80:1. Not too high. Israel place 14th in 2016 and 9th in 2015.

Add your opinions below…. (in my opinions… it is a very generic Eurovision dance tune). The video pays homage to Israel’s last two year’s of songs (showing him as a backup singer) and acts as a promo for the Ministry of Tourism, GooseFeathers, and Jeep(TM). It gets better after the fourth listen.

The Song is Below:

The LYRICS

Israel’s Eurovision Song Contest 2017 entry Imri Ziv to performs I Feel Alive
What are the lyrics to I Feel Alive?

The secret of my life is never giving up
Now I’m close to you
Walking through the stars brings me to the start
When I won with you

I was waiting way too much for something good to come
And I’m a bit fragile
Was waiting way too much, it’s like an hourglass
And you’re like trouble

Breaking me to pieces
I wanted you to know that every piece broke from you
Breaking me to pieces
‘Cause every time you come around
I feel alive

Now I’m trying, I’m trying
I feel alive
I feel alive

The years I’ve been alone far away from home
Reminded me of you
My job is almost done
Baby I can now escape away with you

I was waiting way too much for something good to come
And I’m a bit fragile
Was waiting way too much, it’s like an hourglass
And you’re like trouble

Breaking me to pieces
I wanted you to know that every piece broke from you
Breaking me to pieces
‘Cause every time you come around
I feel alive

Now I’m trying, I’m trying
I feel alive
So alive

Alive, alive, alive
Alive, alive, alive

Breaking me to pieces
I wanted you to know that every piece broke from you
Breaking me to pieces
‘Cause every time you come around
I feel alive
