Move over Address Labels

… and tote bags

…… and paper notepads

(but not Jewish holiday calendars)

as premiums for your contribution to a Jewish philanthropy.

The Chronicle of Philanthropy reports that American charities are successfully offering customized socks as premiums to their donors.

For the holidays, the World Wildlife Fund sells socks with animal designs to contributors of over $55. And for over two years, public radio stations have offered socks as premiums. One station in New Hampshire offers socks with New England landscapes and the state bird to its donors. A Bernie campaign sold Sanders socks (not the one with the extra frizzy white fabric that mimic’s the Senator’s hair)

Can Jewish and Israel-oriented philanthropies be far behind?

Perhaps felafel inspired designs?
Stars of David?
Latkes and menorahs?
Bagels and Lox?
Herrings?
Portraits of Herzl and Israeli leaders?
Mort Klein?

I, for one, would be more likely to donate to the UJA if they threw in a pair of socks. Or the JNF if they had blue tin pushke box designs on a pair. Or The NYC Jewish Museum threw in a Modigliani portrait on a set.
