Three cheers for Israeli film making!

Three Israeli films, The Syrian Bride, To Take a Wife and Amos Gitai’s Promised Land won a total of 7 prizes at the Montreal and Venice Film Festivals, two of the most prestigious and influential film festivals in the world. The Syrian Bride actually won the top honor in Montreal, the first Israeli film to do so. I am so proud! back in the day, the Jews made Hollywood (for better or for worse), film making is in the genes, and Israel has more stories to tell than Manhattan, it’s about time we start catching up!

As an aside, I can’t help but notice the subject of two of these three films is marriage. Also, the big winner a couple years ago was the Israeli film Late Marriage. I’m telling you, this society is obsessed, it’s not my imagination.
