Haven't I seen you at Gush Katiff?

Okay, I lied about the supermodel.

However, if you believe in the settlement movement whole-heartedly, oppose the pullout, oppose a peace settlement offering any settlements to the Palestinians, and can spin a phrase…the settlers of Judea, Samaria and Gaza would love to hear from you.

The reason is that their current spokesman, Yehoshua Mor-Yosef, spokesman for the Council of Jewish Communities in Judea, Samaria and the Gaza Strip, has been ordered to take a leave of absence.

His crime? Moderation. Well, actually, the Council of Jewish Communities in Judea, Samaria and the Gaza Strip called it heresy.

Moderation, heresy, potato, potaato.

He said that to achieve peace Israel should go back to its 1967 borders.
AAAAAAAAAARRRRRGGGHHHHH!!!

He was also opposed to the depiction by the council of the residents of Yitzhar and their supporters who were filmed pelting IDF and police forces with rocks, and yelling “Nazis” at them. Apparently Mor-Yosef felt this footage “harmed the settlers’ cause” but the Council, in its wisdom, disagreed.

Do you suppose Mor-Yosef would like to join us here at Jewlicious. We could use another quality author.

  • Not that it matters much, but you’d think “Shmatas Apparel” could find someone who actually speaks Arabic. The phrase on the shirt “Ana Bahab Israel” doesn’t actually mean anything. The proper way to say “I Love Israel” is “Ahab Israel.”

    I’m just saying.

  • The Iraqui dude who gave me the translation stands by it, as does my Egyptian buddy. Maybe it’s a regional dialect thing?

  • I dunnoi. The way Wrabic works, the personal pronoun is incorporated into the word. The way it’s written now looks redundant to me, but it may possibly be a dialect thing.

Now that I think about it, popular Egyptian singing artist Sha’aban, whose hits include such sing-along favorites as “I hate Israel” uses a similar colloquial tense.

So you never know. But keep in mind that anytime you wear a shirt with a “Japanese” character on it, some dude in Beijing is laughing his head off at you.

  • I looove that song – Ana Bakra Israel – You can hear it by clicking on playalicious (below the lips on the left). Sha’aban Abdu Rahim is a total idiot though. But yeah, I did seriously have that Arabic checked out and it’s apparently acceptable. Arabic readers know EXACTLY what I mean …. Heh.

  • Yoav, chabibi, hate to burst your bubble BUT Romy is uh… Catholic. Not that we don’t have plenty of fine Jewish women here in Montreal, but for some odd reason very few of them (ie NONE) wanna come up to the office and pose in tight t-shirts.

    Oh well.

  • Well, he had said differently or was misquoted earlier.

In any case, as he departed, he did state his support for the settlement enterprise. That is correct.
