Are these guys on it?

In fact, it has nothing to do with Judaism. But it is funny enough to deserve a place in our little universe. It seems the US Army, while dreaming up new weapons, envisioned a chemical that could be dropped on its enemies that would affect them by, well, by making them love each other. I mean, LOOOOOVE each other.

…among the plans was one for the development of an “aphrodisiac” chemical weapon that would make enemy soldiers sexually irresistible to each other. Provoking widespread homosexual behaviour among troops would cause a “distasteful but completely non-lethal” blow to morale, the proposal says.

I guess when you are busy loving your fellow soldier, it’s difficult to fight hard-fighting marines – although you might make googly-eyes at them.

Have any of you folks seen Eytan Fox’s movies? He’s made a career of dealing with this topic. See, I made it Jewlicious after all.

ed. note: The pictures above are from a series of classically inspired and notably homoerotic photos of IDF soldiers taken by Adi Ness, represented by the Dvir Gallery in Tel Aviv. What? You got a better idea for pictures to illustrate this post?

  • I need to get a hold of that chemical (preferably some time before the next Allman Brothers concert I go to 🙂 ).

  • Um, I thought Gregg was a man. And you are a woman…

The only impact it would have would be incestuous sex among the…Allman brothers and their band mates.

    Please don’t do it, Dina.

  • hahaha!
Well, I don’t know…the article didn’t say that it only works on members of the same sex, it says that it’s an aphrodisiac. With the soldiers at war, the only people around would be, well, men. Hence the onslaught of homosexual behavior. However, if it were a girl using it on a guy…I don’t know.

  • The Muffti recalls Aristotle actually having a view on this matter. He thought that soldiers who loved eachother were more likely to have a stake in making sure that one another survived, which would be good for army morale.

  • I’ve seen this sort of thing in action before, some kind of love drug, lots of gay and straight people, smoke, loud noises …. let me see, where was that …

Oh yeah, Aria, Stereo and places of that ilk, every weekend, and the secret drug is called ecstacy. Interested Dina? Follow the trail of drained spinal fluid (chuckle, chuckle) ….

Alexander of Macedonia is reputed to have had a very strong army for that reason.

  • “Any army of lovers can not fail”.

Oscar Wilde, if I’m not mistaken.
