Gracie the Puddy TatSo I was checking out how we were doing on the Jewish Israeli Blog Awards voting when I discovered that we were actually getting our butts kicked in the Best Overall Blog Category by none other than Meryl Yourish. So I went over to check it out and while she did urge her visitors to vote:

Jewlicious is kicking my butt again. My faithful re-voters can’t re-vote. It’s one person, one vote. That means some others of you are going to have to step up to the plate. C’mon, my “invisibles.” You don’t have to register, just vote! Best Overall, and Best Post (Meirav Was Two).

I am convinced that what really tipped the scales in her favor is her latest post about and accompanying picture of her cat Gracie. See Gracie fell asleep on Meryl’s black leather sofa on the spot usually occupied by Tigger allowing Meryl to get an awesome pic … anyways, read the post. That Gracie is both a little scamp and a total cutie! We totally cannot compete against stuff like that.

I mean, ever since the departure of my beloved Lhasa Apso Rocky, I have not had a pet. Laya has this mutt called Oscar (figures) which even she doesn’t like, T_M may or may not have a pet – security reasons preclude our ability to reveal that fact, Alli lives in a dorm and Muffti out and out hates cats. So Jewlicious has suffered from a conspicuous absence of cute posts featuring adorable puddy tats. For the more cynical amongst you, remember that the Internet was built on the dissemination of cute cat pictures. Well, that and porn, but you get my point.

So, in perfectly French form, I am announcing Jewlicious’ abdication. We cannot compete against the likes of Gracie and G*d help us if Meryl gets a cute pic of Tigger up as well (perhaps sunning himself next to a window? Oops. Never mind, already been done in kittypalooza). Thus I urge all our faithful readers who have not voted yet to visit the Jewish Israeli Blog Awards page and vote for Meryl.

Do it for Gracie!

  • Um, since this is kind of an open group blog, I’m sure ck won’t mind if I disagree. Cats may be cute and Meryl may have total cutie posts about Gracie. But…we have ck!!! Vote for us. Please!

  • dude, that sounds so bad. First of all, it’s not really my dog to begin with, and it’s not that i don’t like it, it’s just that i don’t really want it near me or my stuff. That’s all.

  • So have faithful readers send pics of their Jewish animals. I’m sure my babies, Shayna Punim, Merlyn, Talysyn, and Sylas would be glad to add to the cuteness factor of Jewlicious!

  • Hahahah, I’m not agreeing with him (that would be too easy!), but to take multiple opinions into account: if pictures of cute kitties are necessary next to boobies, beer, and enlightening discussions (and humor, don’t forget the humor), so be it……let the picture sharing commence! Heck, I think Lilith or Tikkun did an article recently on whether or not your dog could be Jewish..I don’t see why Jewlicious can’t do a blog every so often about the greatness of Jewish pets, pets as related to halacha, how often Jews own pets, what kinds of pets they own, what names they give…etc etc etc…..a whole sub-blog!

  • Oh CK, where’s your cutthroat spirit of competition? Never say die: never surrender. If it comes down to the feline factor, I can borrow Jerry and Jenna Kustanowitz, my brother and sister-in-law’s cats, who sent me a card for my last birthday. But only if it comes to that.

    FWIW, I think Jewlicious rocks.

    🙂

  • Ziva, you are right. But must we pay for our sins with a resounding defeat to Meryl?

  • No—-I say fight “kitty pics” with “kitty pics”—-although Tigger is pretty darn cute. I could get multiple kitty pics for Jewlicious!

  • Darn if I had a digital camera I could gobs of cute cat pics from my two. (Maggie the Jewish Cat and Breygi. (For those not up on their Norse mythology, Breygi was the Norse god of poetry and eloquence.)
