Jewlicious @ The Beach

We done gone and did it again.

First there was a birthright israel trip based on a blog, now there’s a conference. Ever been to a conference based on a blog? Neither have we, but we figured it would be fun. So, on the weekend of April 8-10, Jewlicious is not just a Jewish blog, it’s also a conference, and a conference blog. The conference will take place on April 8-10 in Long Beach, California. Jewlicious @ The Beach is really the brainchild of Rachel and Rabbi Yonah Bookstein, the Director and Chaplain, respectively, of Long Beach Hillel.

Jewlicious @ The Beach looks like it’s going to totally rock. Literally. Saturday night’s events will feature a pool party and a show by The Hip Hop Hoodios and the Makkabees. Of course, laya and I will be there as well. Muffti would have come too but he’ll be at some wanky academic conference. Find out more and register today!

Here’s the official conference announcement:

  • I gotta get myself a blog. What a great excuse for lots of travelling!

  • I still think Jewlicious: The Musical’s somewhere in the near future. If not, then certainly Jewlicious: the reheatable thermos.

  • Very nice.

  • That’s still subject to further change. Though I must say, it’s evolving nicely … some surprises are definitely in store … Why didn’t you just link to the program?

  • Dina: I’m sure some something can be arranged for a genuine punk of zion. Please talk to Rabbi Bookstein.

Rina: Well, if you can play hockey with the adults … check out jewlicious.beachhillel.com and give Rabbi Bookstein or Rachel a call, see what they think – I have no problem with your participation as long as you bring a note from your parents and as long as Shane is Jewish. Otherwise we WILL give you SUCH grief!

Oh and you have to hang out with Dina the whole time. That way if we need you guys we can say “RinaDina, RinaDina – come here please!” That would be funny.

  • Jewlicious folk, while we cannot offer subsidy, there are a few scholarships on a first come first serve basis. SO dont delay, get thy registration in asap. And Dina, you can grab a flight from travelocity for $280 to LAX, write if you need more info please!

  • Midnight Fondue Pool Party?? Umm, that sounds mighty unjewlicious to me…
And what’s with Jewlicious participants only?? ck and laya in a pool, melted chocolate everywhere…Sounds messy.

  • lol ck, don’t worry, shane is jewish. I love the jewboys so it works out perfectly. haha. this jewlicious at the beach seems like it be so much fun!

  • Big Fun. What the hell kinda Jewish name is Shane anyway? I was just kidding of course… It’s all good. One of my idiot Jewish friends saddled his newborn with the name Amadeus. And it’s not like the dude’s a big classical music fan either – the potato head doesn’t know Mozart from Moby. Sheesh. Jews…

  • We just got a donation of 50 t-shirts for the first fifty people to register.

  • Why am I tempted to sing a song about Rina and CK sitting in a tree?

Maybe that “Amadeus” parent really likes 80s one-hit-wonder German singer Falco. If the person’s a fan of 80s German crossover rock, it could have been way worse: your friend could’ve named his kid “Der Kommissar” or “99 Luftballons.”

But no baby name is set in stone. Apparently. My friends had a baby girl, named her Ilana, and then two years later, changed her name to Abigail. And look at Madonna, changing her name to Esther.

    That’s it. I’m done now.

  • Under 18? Oh gosh. That’s younger than an Oleson twin. I take back that song-singing urge.

  • And you’re totally welcome to come to the next No Boys–Period! Club for Lesbian Cousin Lovers Only meeting my cousin and I (we cofounded the club when we were 16 and are having our first meeting since) hold. Which will be really soon…like this Friday night.

You can talk about Shane and she and I will talk about boys who are stinky and our other friend can talk about her ex (who has cooties) and then we’ll laugh at each other for venting and we’ll laugh at the boys for being morons and then we’ll all make out to feel better!

  • Let me try again without the L word (is that it?)…

Thanks Rina! You’re totally invited to the next No Boys–Period! Club for L______ Cousin Lovers Only meeting my cousin and I (NBPCLCLO co-founders) hold.
We started the club when we were 16 and both realized how stinky boys can be. Originally, the club was only for us. But since we haven’t had an official meeting since the initial one, I think we can make an exception for you and another friend to join. So, we’ll sit around in my cousin’s room and you’ll talk about Shane and my cousin and I will talk about boys who smell and my other friend will talk about her ex (who has cooties) and then we’ll laugh at each other for venting and we’ll laugh at the boys for being morons and then we’ll all make out just for the fun of it.

  • Dina, the word “lesbian” is, sadly, one of the spam words we have to filter. However, your post doesn’t get deleted, it is simply placed in the spam list which we then diligently pore over with our hawk-like eyes. Usually we will find your post and let it through.

  • you know i was thinking…. wouldnt becoming a lesbian bring on more drama in relationships?

  • That’s what I figured, TM.

And Rina, being a fake lesbian is fun! Trust me, my class was known as “the lesbian grade” in high school.
