Junk JudaismThe Wiesenthal Center is set to release a report about hatred on the Internet titled Digital Terrorism+ Hate. It notes the earth shattering fact that “[m]any Web sites used by terrorist organizations are based in the United States.” The report further notes that there are about 5,000 “problematic” sites, representing an increase of 25% over last year.

Rabbi Abraham Cooper (2001 Salary, $312k), Associate Dean of the Wiesenthal Center (Expenses 2003, $32.25 million) stated that many of these Web sites “including Islamic ones, have been used to forment [sic.] hate, recruit new members, and raise funds.”

Wow. I had no idea. We sure are getting our money’s worth with these people! Another fun factoid imparted on us by Rabbi Cooper is that “In other countries there are more strict laws against the incitement of hatred.” Yup. Countries that don’t have a First Amendment or a Bill of Rights in their constitution for instance. The report also dazzles with its mastery of cool Internet buzzwords when it lets us know that “Some sites use a technique called cyber squatting, which latches a parasite Web page onto an existing legitimate Web location in order to evade detection” (click on the link…).

I am shocked. Shocked! Where’s my wallet. Screw Jewish education. This is important!

  • Wait, you forgot to mention that this type of report duplicates what the ADL research unit is supposed to do.

  • And what about the NSA and FBI and Homeland Security? But I am totally sure they’re all waiting with bated breath for SWCs contribution to the war on terror.

  • As someone who wrote a sixth-grade report about Simon Wiesenthal, I can say authoritatively that the new inverted-arch logo pictured speaks to the Center’s goal of upending the cultural assumptions at any cost, even to the detriment of ingrained and profitable US industry. Yasher koach to the designer, wherever he may dwell.

  • Yeah. That’s exactly what I was thinking. But not quite in those words. Thanks Esther!
