Another Matzah Groove

Yet another Passover-based animation, this time from the good folks at Jib Jab – thanks to BibleKing18 for the heads up. It’s pretty funny though a tad racy at times. Those of you with delicate sensibilities have been warned! For those of you who enjoy sacrilege, click here!

  • ck, was it you that posted the rant against jewish outreachers always using the fallback of african-american/hip-hop aesthetics to ply their wares? because i’ll tell ya, every decent Flash Pesach movie this year (with the exception of the 60-second Haggada has done it, and it just… i just feel like it’s over. rrra. whoever said (perhaps it was mobius) that jewish art needs to stop being about outreach had a freakin’ good point.
    happy hag!

  • Chazarmaveth,

    Excellent point.

I like the whole “hip to be square”/”Tragically Hip” vibe that Jews embody. I like being more like Woody and less like Chuck D. Nerds are cool. Or at least were cool during the Dot Com madness.

  • Well, I grew up with Woody Allen as my model of a successful Jewish male, and while I still think he’s a brilliant pedophile – ahem, auteur – I wouldn’t have minded a little Smooth-E to balance Woody out.

It’s not like there’s a shortage of nerdy Jewish icons.

Besides, hip hop is a global phenomenon. It may have originated in the African-American community, but it isn’t owned by any one culture or nationality anymore.
