The Itchy and Scratchy SHOOOOOOW!This is the kind of story that shows that fact really can be stranger than fiction. Hasan Bolkhari is the Iranian Education Minister, not part of a government known for supporting hermeneutics and deconstruction. Nonetheless, he boldly made a rather creepy post-modern suggestion that Derrida, Deluze and the rest would be proud of:

Watch Schindler’s List. Every Jew was forced to wear yellow star on his clothing. The Jews were degraded and termed ‘dirty mice.’ Tom and Jerry was made in order to change the Europeans’ perception of mice. One of terms used was ‘dirty mice.’…Tom and Jerry was made in order to display the exact opposite image. If you happen to watch this cartoon tomorrow, bear in mind the points I have just raised, and watch it from this perspective. The mouse is very clever and smart. Everything he does is so cute.

animated idan rulesUnbe-fucking-leavable! European hermeneuticists and the like would drool over drawing such hidden connections! Hasan Bolkahri clearly should be teaching philosophy at the Sorbonne! Furthermore, like any good continental philosopher, Bolkahri provides some evidence for the premises in his argument:

Some say that this creation by Walt Disney will be remembered forever. The Jewish Walt Disney Company gained international fame with this cartoon. It is still shown throughout the world. This cartoon maintains its status because of the cute antics of the cat and mouse – especially the mouse.

OK, that wasn’t very convincing justification. If Bolkahri took Muffti’s class and handed this in, he’d probably get a C- at best.
>Muffti and his good friend Kenny noticed that Bolkhari’s thesis is applicable to another famous cat and mouse duo, Itchy and Scratchy, depicted up top. Scratchy, the cat, is the constant victim of Itchy’s murderous plots. Why would the Simpsons encourage such a reversal of the usual supposed cat and mouse dynamic? Well, clearly to reverse the perception of mice! Of course, the Muffti/Kenny case is a stretch because in Tom and Jerry, the mouse acted defensively against the cat’s acts of aggression while in Itchy and Scratcy, Scratchy is just the innocent victim of mouse-rage. But, as good post modernists, the Kenny/Muffti can back up their ridiculous theory with a ridiculous defense : ZOG is advancing from stage 1 of the take-over (where the Jews improve their image as mice to cute) to stage 2 (where the Jews try to get everyone else to accept the fact that they are about to be subject to the whims of the Jews).

Kenny and Muffti ought to be invited to give the key note address at the next big Iranian conference: The World Without Mice.

Hat tip to Media Backspin and MEMRI TV (where you can actually see the video of Bolkahari). Thanks to Kenny for pointing out the story in the first place, as well as the brilliant title. Thanks to Idan for the brilliant World Without Mice Image.

  • So wait wait wait…this dude is saying…there’s an international Jewish media conspiracy to get peeps to love MICE???? Now I’ve heard some crazy ass conspiracy theories in my time, but this one is probably the most hilarious I’ve heard so far! Thanks for sharing Mufti. I needed the laugh.

  • Nothing surprises me anymore with those wackos, at least it gave me a good laugh. And to think that those people will have nukes…

  • I guess expecting them to know that Tom and Jerry was created by Hanna-Barbera, not the “Jewish Walt Disney Company” would be expecting too much. They were produced by MGM (and I think Goldwyn and Mayer were Jewish, but I’m not sure). Ah, those damn details just get in the way of a good old-fashioned Jewish world domination conspiracy…

  • Avinu She BaShamayim! Clearly we have a lot of work to do as Jews. Thank you for this post GM. In addition we can take steps on a spiritual level to eliminate this threat.

  • Tom and Jerry weren’t Disney! They were created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera for MGM.

  • heh, Rabbi Yonah, Muffti wonders just what steps one could take other than some cultural education to eliminate the threat. Actually, Muffti isn’t sure that the only threat here is the threat of absurdity 🙂

  • Didn’t Hanna Barbara also make Jewish History cartoons? I distinctly remember HB cartoons in Jewish History class about these kids going back in time to the time of moses and the time of the maccabis etc.

Anyone else know what i’m talking about?

  • Wow! That’s a total stoner conversation. In “Slacker”, Richard Linklater’s first feature film, two stoners discuss the hidden meaning of the Smurfs, as a means of preparing the world for Krishna. “You know, like, Smurfs are blue, and… Smurfs are getting kids used to seeing blue people. You know, with smurfs being blue, kids see blue people, they like, relate to smurfs, and they relate to blue people when Krishna comes about.”

  • according to my google searching, he’s not actually the Iranian minister of education, but an advisor to the education ministry.

  • Shit, i’d figured Tom and Jerry all wrong, apparently i didn’t recieve the guide to the metaphors in Tom and Jerry! Now what’s the point of trying to influence opinion and sending the guide book to a select few!

    Muffti, you’re a generous grader!
