Hate Sucks

Just as defendants are sometimes not guilty by reason of insanity, Muffti is frequently not sure if haters aren’t in fact in a similar situation. The site in the spotlight today, The French Connection furnishes a nice example of the grey area between hatred and insanity. Read on and tell Muffti whether or not you agree.

The site is based around the dubious genius of one Daryl Bradford Smith. According to the site’s mini-biography, Smith is:

Daryl Bradford Smith is an American patriot who decided to produce radio interviews because of his concern for the future of America.

Smith was born and raised in the USA. His lineage can be traced back directly to the immigrants on the Mayflower. He still holds dear his Yankee roots and his minuteman mindset.

Why does it say ‘still holds dear’? Well, Smith moved to France a while back with his wife and then decided not to return. Why?

He planned to move back to the USA after living in France for a few years, but now he is worried about the future of America.

His European perspective and his central location in France give him a unique world view.

Fair enough, Muffti guesses. What does this ‘unique world view’ consist in? Well, here’s a sampling of article titles from the front page of I Am The Witness:
*Kevin Zeese, on how Zionists are trying to stop him from getting elected, and how our support of Israel is absurd.
*France ordered to pay Jewish family:
Why should France pay for transporting Jews to Nazi transit camps while at the same time the Jews threaten them with arrest if they question the Holocaust? If French citizens have to pay for Holocaust crimes, they should be allowed to know what their crimes are.
*Central Council of Jews in Germany: Ahmadinejad is “second Hitler”
The Zionists again call for the punishment of Ahmadinejad for “Holocaust Denial”. Why don’t the Zionists stop talking, arrest Ahmadinejad when he gets off the airplane in Europe, and hold a trial to expose his terrible crime of doubting the official Holocaust story? What are the Zionists afraid of?
*qando.net says MacBeth is a liar… The 9/11 “truth movement” is infiltrated by Zionists and their Useful Idiots, so why wouldn’t the anti-war groups also be infiltrated? Are Michael Hoffman and Jon Henke more Jewish “truth seekers” who are trying to control the message

Apparently the ‘unique world view’ is paranoia about The Lobby, holocaust denial and a firm belief that Jews were primarily involved in 9/11. Don’t be fooled by his use of the word ‘zionist’ rather than jew (well, most of the time). He start off with the usual disclaimer:

Don’t be a sucker. There is nothing anti-Semitic about criticizing Israel or Zionism

Muffti is relatively willing to buy this as a general point. However, it becomes abundantly clear that ‘zionists’ really means a complex mish-mash of Israel supporters on occasion, but more usually, Jews other than overtly anti-Israel Jews like Rabbi Gedalya Liebermann. He frequently takes to using the two words interchangeably. A good example lurks in thelist of reasons to think that ‘zionists’ were the perpetrators of 9/11. (emphasis added by Muffti):

9) Most of the 9/11 truth seekers are Zionists
Jews make up a small portion of America and Europe, and Zionist Jews are an even smaller percentage, but they dominate the 911 truth movement. Could this be because Zionists care more about exposing corruption? Smith thinks not.

Muffti will let the reader take the role of judge. In any case, at times the site lapses into the truly absurd. For example, the site endorses an article about ‘zionism lite’, whose authors accuse, get this, Chomsky(!) of being a Zionist:

Why are otherwise respected American commentators prepared to risk their entire academic reputations in denying the Israel Lobby thesis? Chomsky, Finkelstein, and Zunes have all weighed in, denying the thesis to varying extents. In the case of Chomsky, his denial is a kind of revisionism that completely obviates his life’s work as a political writer.

Those interested in Chomsky’s thoughts on The Lobby thesis can click here. In the paper Chomsky says

Take the worst crime in Israel’s history, its invasion of Lebanon in 1982 with the goal of destroying the secular nationalist PLO and ending its embarrassing calls for political settlement, and imposing a client Maronite regime….

Muffti ain’t taking a stand, but this clearly doesn’t seem to qualify as Zionism; not even Zionism lite for that matter. One wonders who doesn’t qualify as a Zionist by The French Connections reckoning. (So maybe it is true that they aren’t anti-Semites since by their standards there are so many non-Jewish Zionists…)

There is LOTS more, not to mention interviews by Daryl himself. Muffti thinks you guys have had enough of a taste to decide if you want to go on for yourselves. But to return to the question we began with, are the The French Connection authors insane? Haters? Or both?
