We thought that perhaps fighting a major conflict on the Northern Boarder, and Hamas’s incursion in the south would have been enough to convince this PM that his pull-out plan for the West Bank was premature at best, and just plain stupid to many.

Alas, he seems to be one of the stiff-necked Jews that we have seen throughout our history, unable to adapt and admit that things have changed/he was wrong. He should be stubborn in his insistence that things have changed.

In addition, as a record 200 missles hit Israel today, he speaks of the “utterly destroyed infrastructure” of Hizbollah. Who spiked his nargillah?

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert on Wednesday predicted that the outcome of the Israel Defense Forces’ fighting in Lebanon would create “new momentum” for Israel’s plan to separate from the Palestinians by withdrawing from much of the West Bank.

At least 10 settlers being called up for reserve duty in the IDF infantry corps on Wednesday threatened to refuse service in Lebanon to protest Olmert’s comment.

“We will not go into Lebanon if the whole goal is to help expel us from our homes,” the reservists told their commanders.

Israel’s offensive in Lebanon has “entirely destroyed” the infrastructure of the Hezbollah guerilla group, Olmert said Wednesday.

nuf said, its almost Tish B’Av. Lets daven that he comes to his senses before he re-divides the country that had just started to be something like united.

  • He claims that this war proves that we can defend ourselves even after giving up the land. But how often can we, or should we, go through this kind of war? We understand that sometimes lives must be risked to save the nation, but not needlessly thrown away. The same goes for civilian property damage and IDF materiel.

  • Rabbi Yo, the people are divided not because every Israeli loves a good fight, but because the failure of withdrawal to provide good will on the side of our Arab neighbors has utterly embarrassed the Israeli left, which promised that ending the occupation was the key to peace.

Without an end to the occupation in Lebanon & Gaza, the left would not have been embarrassed by their perceived betrayal at the hands of the Arabs, and would not be now enraged and in unity with Israel pounding the daylights of of our enemies. So, though it may have been round-about, this unity was only achieved via disengagement from Lebanon & Gaza.

Plus, now that the settlers are out of Gaza, we have them flanked, instead of them flanking our small pockets of Jewish settlements. Now we can blast them all to Gehena for any Quassam missile that they launch into Israel.

  • “utterly embarrassed the Israeli left”

I am afraid that you overestimate their ability to be embarassed, or underestimate their propensity to fool themselves.

“Now we can blast them all to Gehena for any Quassam missile that they launch into Israel.”

But you can see that we won’t. It took them a year and a kidnapping to start reacting this time, and I’m afraid that they’ll think that they’ve used up their store of international good will and wait another few years before the next time

  • Oyster man, 8,000 lives ruined, scores dead – all so the left will admit it was wrong? Guess what – they haven’t – was is still worth it? It is the Disengagement supporters who think to themselves that they are right-wingers and give a damn about Israel who should be utterly ashamed, track down former residents of Gush Katif and beg them to help them wash the caked blood off their well-meaning, yet gullible hands.

Tisha B’Av yo – one year anniversary of the courageous and sensible Disengagement. Read Eicha folks, its about you.

  • E, explain how the disengagement is responsible for “scores dead.” From what I can tell, there were more deaths and injuries to Israelis in Gaza prior to the disengagement than now. The rockets were falling then as they are now. There were attacks on outposts like the one at Kerem Shalom prior to Israel’s Gaza departure.

If you’re somehow trying to link this war in Lebanon with Gaza’s disengagement, you’re going to have to do a bit better since Hizbullah has launched attacks against Israeli outposts previously.

  • Could there be any truth in this?

The War on Lebanon and the Battle for Oil

    Militarization of the Eastern Mediterranean

The bombing of Lebanon is part of a carefully planned and coordinated military road map. The extension of the war into Syria and Iran has already been contemplated by US and Israeli military planners. This broader military agenda is intimately related to strategic oil and oil pipelines. It is supported by the Western oil giants which control the pipeline corridors. In the context of the war on Lebanon, it seeks Israeli territorial control over the East Mediterranean coastline.

In this context, the BTC pipeline dominated by British Petroleum, has dramatically changed the geopolitics of the Eastern Mediterranean, which is now linked , through an energy corridor, to the Caspian sea basin:

“[The BTC pipeline] considerably changes the status of the region’s countries and cements a new pro-West alliance. Having taken the pipeline to the Mediterranean, Washington has practically set up a new bloc with Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey and Israel, ” (Komerzant, Moscow, 14 July 2006)

Israel is now part of the Anglo-American military axis, which serves the interests of the Western oil giants in the Middle East and Central Asia.

Go to the site – some interesting maps.

So fundamentally – the issue of terrorism is just a smoke-screen
Israel/US were looking for an issue they could leverage and used the captured soldiers as the excuse to get started.

  • This stuff is classic conspiracy stuff, in the form of geo-political “thinking.”

In fact that whole website is a pack of lies. VIDEO: US Plans to Use Nuclear Weapons against Iran was a previous article by this so-called journalist.
