Tu B Av the holiday of Jewish Love, is almost over and I had thought that our Queen would provide some kind of elegy, eulogy, proclamation, manifesto, something for this Jewish holiday which pre-empted jDate by thousands of years and Valentines day by a lot too.

So here we are on the West Coast and Tu B Av is still raging, and their are people falling all over each other, figuratively of course, and lots of gooey love stuff.

The big event yesterday was the Moshav’s record release party for their new album “Misplaced” which totally hit the mark. The band was on fire, hitting everyone with powerful melodies and energy. The audience clamored for more, and more. Moshav (noticed they shortened their name) have really been a continuously evolving yet always very Jewish band. The message and the music reflecting Israel, America, and a deep spiritual yearning.

The event was organized by JConnect-LA, a new and exciting venture to create a social and spiritual network for young professional Jews. JConnect is working hard to make events worth going to. This evening was no exception, with the Aqua Lounge PACKED with over 350 folks.

Moshav’s new label and promoters JMG have a really professional approach and if the album posters and turnout were any indication, it seems that JMG is seriously putting their energy into talented Jewish bands, and getting them the publicity and reach of mainstream-idie music.

And lastly, Tu B’Av is the birthday of Rachel Bookstein, my dear wife and Director of Beach Hillel. Happy Birthday Rachel!
