Shana Tova

As Jerusalem starts to wind down in anticipation of the New Year, I’d like to take this opportunity to wish you all a sweet and wonderful New Year. Let the next 2 days of holiday and the third day of the Sabbath serve as a period of contemplation and introspection. I mean, I’m not going to tell you how to use this time. Go to an open bar for all I care. But I know that this year has, in many ways, been a watershed year for me. I am thankful for everything that has been bestowed upon me – loyal friends and associates especially – and I look forward to an even better year! Thank you to all our readers, fabulous commentators and wonderfully gorgeous contributors. You are all partners in all the cool things Jewlicious has done and will continue to do!

OK, enough with the mushiness. The shuk is now closed. Rosh Hashana will come in at 6:13 pm and the streets will be deserted as everyone celebrates this introspective holiday. Living in Israel, I am thankful that the only commercialism I really have to deal with is Pomegranates being slightly more expensive this time of the year. Holiday music usually involves middle eastern inflected tunes whose lyrics translate to “We have sinned before thee, please have mercy on us.” It’s no White Christmas but at least it’s all ours. No begging the boss for days off and having to explain why. No going to work or making appointments because you have no choice. No tests, no exams. Nothing. Just the joy of being in the company of good friends and family.

And vegetables that taste like vegetables. This is ck from Jerusalem, signing off baby!
