  • Very cute and funny and deserving to be right up there on the list of “All Time Top Ten Jewish Angst Satire Songs” with Sarah Silverman’s “Bring the Jew Girl Toys” and Adam Sandler’s (whoa, did it get hot in here all of a sudden?) Original “Chanukah Song”.

What are the other 7? Suggestions?

  • My kids were busy in Yeshiva today with learning and homework. They are not allowed to say the word “Christmas” and they aren’t even allowed to draw a plus sign when doing math equations…and they are in the more Modern school here in our little town of Plifton, NJ.

    My chinese food was delicious!

Now…what to do with them Jan.17-27, I can’t afford Boca, Har Nof or Toronto this year.

  • Chutzpah do you say this about your children’s Yeshiva with pride or regret? I guess its not really doing much for the world outlook, having your children believe there is something ‘evil’ about another person’s belief system.

  • There is nothing wrong with believing anything is evil or bad, if it actually is. For example, writing the word “Christmas” and specifying a “+” sign are not forbidden.

However, from a Jewish belief point of view, anything pagan or idolotrous, such as Christmas and the beliefs that come along with it, are bad for the Neshamah.

  • Jon, I say it with regret.

I didn’t know the beautiful Torah education I dreamed of for my children would be filled with Teachers, Rabbis and Administrators who have nothing nice to say about “goyim” or other types of Jews.
1/2 of their curriculum is teaching them how Torah Jews are superior to the outside world, and the other 1/2 is teaching them how the outside world is an evil and corrupt place. Thus, no time is left for teaching them skills for getting along in the outside world and treating people whose belief systems are different with respect. In fact, they spend a lot of time learning the Torah laws of how to treat Non-Jews differently.

“BAD FOR THE NESHAMAH” …my favorite catch-all phrase which allows for chumrah on top of chumrah! As I teach my children Shy Guy “LIFE IS NOT A FRUM CONTEST”!

Now I’m going to add up my bills on my calculator and hope my Neshamah will forgive me every time I press the plus sign.

  • Chutzpah, do your kids like their school? If you only have bad things to say about it and it’s probably costing a shitload, why don’t you take them out?

Believe me when I tell you that you don’t know me very well.

  • …press the plus sign and say “Jesus Holy Christ things are fucking expensive!”

  • My Ex handles the payments or lack there of …

In Joint Custody situations one parent can’t just “take them out”….it’s a mess…

So what were the 7 other Top Ten Jewish Angst Satire Songs of All Time?

  • This is funny! I can’t count how many times I’ve had a Chinese dinner after a movie on December 25, with friends or family. I had no idea how common that was! Meryl Yourish (www.yourish.com) even has an entry on her blog about…you guessed it! Having dinner at a Chinese restaurant after going to the movies on Christmas.

They should make December 25 a sort of Jewish secular holiday, where movies and Chinese food become the tradition.

This year, I went to a movie with friends, but then…in a major departure…we had falafel instead of Chinese food. Somehow, it just wasn’t the same.
