Well, I am back. I flew in to Israel yesterday morning on a chartered El Al flight. Joining me were 240 olim – new Israeli immigrants who made it to Israel from the US and Canada with the assistance of Nefesh B’Nefesh. Also joining me were bloggers from Treppenwitz, Hirhurim, the Muqata, Seraphic Secrets, Frum Satire and of course, the ever lovely Esther. Go read their blogs. In a few minutes I have to split – going to the NBN building to talk about blogging. Show starts at 10:30 am EST – click here to see it live!

You can also see pics from the plane ride and Arrival Ceremony at Ben Gurion here.

  • I am loving the conference online. And D’s part was fun to listen to. But NETANYAHU? what is he doing there. It is like a former PM speaking in front of 100+ bloggers who all think they should be a former or future PM

  • When I saw that Bibi was on the program, my better instincts told me not to attend this convention. Shoulda listened to my better instincts. As soon as the Great Right Hope entered the room the whole thing turned into a Bibifest. I kept waiting for the organizers to take the mike and get the conversation back on track, but it didn’t happen, so I left. This is a convention of Jewish bloggers? I guess Nefesh B’Nefesh isn’t the right group to sponsor such a thing.

Fortunately, I didn’t miss the comedy act–Bibi’s sketch about his visit to CERN (“It’s a big tunnel that things race around”) had me rolling in the aisles.

  • Haim, how are you doing? Why didn’t you come over to say hello, or did you and I didn’t hear well?

Anyway, to tell you a secret, Bibi has been one of NBN’s biggest backers from before they (literally) got off the ground. He believes in Aliyah. So, maybe it’s also an attraction based on what’s good for the Jewish nation. And last year, Olmert got the big “here-I-am-appearance” at the airport, so NBN does spread around.

And think about it this way, it’s called democracy and having the right (no pun) to hold to your opinions and express it. You could have stayed and probably gotten in a question – my wife did. MyShrapnel pulled no punches, or should that be she punched out?

Maybe the next Convention/Conference/Confab could be sponored ($$$) by some left-wing group, say Shatil, NIF, etc., and then you could discriminate against all the other-political-opinion bloggers (or is that already being done?).

By the way, describe CERN better for us? Besides reading about it in a novel somewhere (Dan Brown?), I am not au fait about it. And don’t you know the joke about asking a Jew to describe circular staircase – without using his hands?

See you on over at your blog.

    And, “wait til next year!”

  • btw, here are my points for imrpoving:

Allow me to repeat and add:

    1. More time. 9:30 – 8

    2. Add a workshop session of “how to”, technical and conceptually.

    3. Have on-line video conferencing.

    4. You can charge 25 NIS that will include food + registration.

    5. Hook up with WordPress (they came here last year to promote themselves) or another blogger host for sponsorship.

    6. Can a list of who was there, etc. be put out?
