Several American Jewish organizations have been planning a rally across from the United Nations in NYC on Monday, September 22, to protest the visit by and policies of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Groups are scrambling to bring out the protestors, to make this rally bigger than the “Zionism = Racism” rally of the 1970’s. Unfortunately, in my humble opinion, the organizers invited Sarah Palin, the U. S, Republican Party candidate for VP, and she has tentatively planned to attend. Has this turned the rally into a more muddled event? If the rally already has local and regional opinion leaders and politicians as speakers, Elie Wiesel, and a few Farsi speaking dissidents thrown in for good measure, was it necessary to invite unelected candidates at the risk of alienating rally participants? Are public relations and media exposure the main goal (of course it is), and rally attendees merely background extras for the event?

Well… either way, I, personally, won’t let the planning and agendas of some organizations get in the way of a good cause. Be there. 12 Noon. Monday. Dag Hammarskjold Plaza.

  • Basically, Hillary (thanks in part to Obama) will diss the Jewish and American people. Oh that Democratic Party, they’ll do anything to win the election, including insulting Patraeus, denying the success of the Surge, try to delay the withdrawal of troops to make Obama look good, and now this. But keep believing the Dems love Jews!

  • Hillary backed out, an unnecessary and ill-advised move. The planners intended a bipartisan event. Neither they nor Palin should be blamed if the junior senator from, yes, New York, fails to show.

Let’s see what Palin says before passing judgment on excessive partisanship. If she exploits the event to unload on Barack, she should be severely criticized. Time will tell.

  • Ever since the mid-1960s, and the SSSJ rallies and then those of the establishment, politicians have always been invited and appeared. If Dems want to play politics with Israel’s survival, well, there’s always the vote as a weapon.

  • Party Before Country. Palin’s been uninvited. Sometimes, I’m embarrassed by my own people. Moronic Hollywood types, celebrities, and bleeding heart artists acting this partisan and petty is one thing, but a “serious” organization, and for a protest that AFAIK, is supported overwhelmingly by Republicans, Democrats, and Independents? Come on. So let’s take a recent count again on issues that the Democrats choose to side with party before country for political gain:

    – Losing the Iraq War
    – Admitting the success of the Surge
    – Vote on Drilling, Drilling in general
    – Badmouthing America from abroad
    – Economic crisis as it affects voting
    – Commission to prosecute American War Criminals in Iraq
    – Back-dealing with Iraq’s leadership to withdraw troops until after the election
    – And now this.

Congrats Obligatory Democrat American Jews! Party First!

  • Whether Palin was invited or not doesn’t actually matter as it’s her right to show up even if not invited. If her conviction or political reasoning tells her it’s good to show up, nobody can keep her. But I’m sorry for Hillary, understanding she’s been supportive of Israel in the conflict with Iran, and I highly doubt skipping on partcipating was her decision alone. I hope she will still show up to the rally – not as a politician or a party representative, but as a citizen of the USA exercizing her rights.

  • Sarah’s more of a threat than Ahmadinejad, apparently. And to be fair, her appearance on Fox last night justified the fears of her opponents.

  • I’ve always considered myself overly proud if not in fact Ethnocentric in my zeal to believe we are really chosen, not by g-d but by ourselves, to be a light among nations, at least in terms of intelligence and productivity. Thanks to the actions of these dumb Jews, and the hoards of critical thinking, yet obligatory Democrat Jews, I no longer think of us on a higher moral, nor ethical, nor intelligent plane, but as average, if not below, in the critical thinking and ethics categories. This is an embarrassment. And the next time some of my Gentile friends ask, how can Jews so ardently support a party and a candidate that supports their enemies and welcomes them into his tent, I won’t explain the history of Jews in America and why we have historically leaned left (but not realized when the love affair was over), and I’ll tell them exactly what I think…

“They’re f****** stupid man. What more do you want? Dumb Jews. That’s it.”

  • Now it’s your turn Middle, CK, anyone…

Sources: Intense Pressure Led To Palin UN Snub
CBS 2 HD Has Learned Democrats Threatened To Attack Jewish Groups’ Tax Exempt Status Over VP Nominee Invite
    —————————————————————
Hillary Clinton won’t be speaking at Monday’s anti-Iran rally at the United Nations — and neither will Republican Sarah Palin or any other politicians for that matter.

The reason? A heated behind the scenes tug-of-war.

Sources tell CBS 2 HD that a decision to disinvite Palin from the high profile rally after Clinton pulled out in a huff came as the result of intense pressure from Democrats.

“This is insulting. This is embarrassing, especially to Gov. Palin, to me and I think it should be to every single New Yorker,” Assemblyman Dov Hikind, D-Brooklyn, told CBS 2 HD.

Sources say the axes were out for Palin as soon as Sen. Clinton pulled out because she did not want to attend the same event as the Republican vice presidential candidate.

“I have never seen such raw emotion — on both sides,” said someone close to the situation.

The groups sponsoring the rally against Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad speaking at the UN were reportedly told, “it could jeopardize their tax exempt status” if they had Palin and not Clinton or Democratic VP candidate Joe Biden on hand.

So all politicians were disinvited, most prominently, Palin.

“It’s an absolute shame that this has happened,” Hikind said. “To threaten organizations … to threaten the Conference of Presidents that if you don’t withdraw the invitation to Gov. Palin we’re going to look into your tax exempt status … that’s McCarthyism.”

Another Jewish group tried to step into the breach by inviting Palin to a different protest a day earlier.

“I’m absolutely appalled at the behavior of the Democrats,” said Bob Kunst of Defenders.net. “I’m a Democrat and for the first time in my life I’m going to vote Republican. I can’t take it anymore.”

As for Sen. Clinton, she brushed right past CBS 2 HD’s Lou Young when he tried to ask her about the issue on Thursday night.

Lou Young: “Were the organizers of Monday’s rally right to depoliticize it?”

Clinton walked past Young, said “Thank you all very much” and started hugging people.

Clinton’s people tell CBS 2 HD she intends to make some statement of support for the protestors. She is also expected to attack Ahmadinejad’s pro-nuke, anti-Israel stance.

    Despicable.

  • Keeping Palin off the stage was clearly more important than protesting our friend from Iran. Ahmadinejad will have a good laugh at the Jewish community’s expense.

  • If Ahmedinejad gets up on the right side of his bed in the morning, I get up on the left. That’s how it goes. Simple as that. Anything that Ahmedinejad supports, I oppose. And vice versa. In fact, I define morality by being for anything Ahmedinejad is against and by being against anything that Ahmedinejad is for. Except for irrational thinking, scriptural inerrancy and fundamentalist religious beliefs. We’re both together on those things. Just on different theological sides of the fence, so to speak.

  • George W. Bush’s sentence-by-sentence speaking skills are deteriorating. Apparently, this may be due to a mental illness called “presenile dementia.” Bush may or may not be secretly still drinking heavily. Bush lied, and thousands of people died. Bush suffers from narcissism and megalomania. Moreover, Bush has been arrested three times. Bush was arrested for disorderly conduct. Bush was arrested for stealing. Bush was also arrested for a serious crime—driving under the influence of alcohol. There are reasons to believe that Bush suffers from a learning disability. Bush’s learning disability would explain a lot of things. All in all, Bush is a severely mentally ill individual. Bush is not fit to be the president of the United States.
