Usually, I read something interesting, I make a comment and cite a relevant paragraph with a link to the story. Now however, words fail me. I can go on and on about barbarity and inhumanity, but what the fuck… I have no words in response to this article about the particular torture that was reserved for Israelis and Jews by the Mumbai terrorists:

“Bombay has a long history of terror. I have seen bodies of riot victims, gang war and previous terror attacks like bomb blasts. But this was entirely different. It was shocking and disturbing,” a doctor said… The other doctor, who had also conducted the post-mortem of the victims, said: “Of all the bodies, the Israeli victims bore the maximum torture marks. It was clear that they were killed on the 26th itself. It was obvious that they were tied up and tortured before they were killed. It was so bad that I do not want to go over the details even in my head again,” he said… Corroborating the doctors’ claims about torture was the information that the Intelligence Bureau had about the terror plan. “During his interrogation, Ajmal Kamal said they were specifically asked to target the foreigners, especially the Israelis,” an IB source said… It is also said that the Israeli hostages were killed on the first day as keeping them hostage for too long would have focused too much international attention. “They also might have feared the chances of Israeli security agencies taking over the operations at the Nariman House,” he reasoned.

I feel sick to my stomach.

  • There is little to say that offers any comfort after reading these these lines. The report also made me halt during a very busy day and took me outside to get a gasp of fresh air and to shout out loud WHY. I remembered the shiur about the concept of Amelek and how some humans are stuck in utter tohu and are able to do things are are not human at all. I wish there was retaliation for this, and that their blood may be avenged, but I am at a loss. And who wants to become like them?

  • Self-righteous person: “You obviously don’t care about anybody other than Jews, you self-centered, ethnocentric bigot. How dare you emphasize Jewish victims?”

  • I got drunk. Weak response I know, but I am numb all over now and numb is better than consumed by anguish and pain, right? Numb is better than feeling completely impotent and useless…

  • We beat the war out of Germany and Japan. We did not become like “them.” The same needs to be done here.

  • “Guest” needs to go back and read what you said. Jews were targeted and consequently were the recipients of sickening torture at the hands of these monsters. May
G-d comforts the loved ones of all the victims, as well as, the loved ones of our people who perished.

  • The reason they are called “terrorists” is because they terrorize and torture people. The fact that they are Muslim makes them hate Jews and Israelis, the same as many Jews and Israelies hate Muslims. Hate is the ultimate powerful evil, destructive force that results in unspeakable horrors. Why does this surprise anyone? Very sadly, is it nothing new.

  • ^ riiiiight, b/c jews torture muslims in really f***ed up ways everyday. (insert. sarcasm. here.)

  • I in no way meant to imply that Jews are terrorists.

Terrorist Muslims feel that their god desires these horrible acts of violence. When people believe their sky god justifies their hatred of others, there is no reasoning with them.

John Lennon felt the solution was to “imagine there’s no Heaven…and then the world would be as one”, but the Old Testament which we all hold so dear disapproves of this approach.

I don’t know what the solution is.

  • And please, they are victims, not heroes. Heroes choose certain death and deliberately pay that price for a greater good. I strongly believe that the Jewish victims did not want to die, that the rabbi and his wife would have loved to see their baby boy grow up. Do those people justice. Call them victims.

  • They died doing a mitzva. So, yes, they are heroes. It’s totally OK to call them that. I wouldn’t call them ‘Martyrs’ though. like I read elsewhere.

  • A hero is aware he’s facing certain death and chooses that path. A martyr is a person that dies for his faith, but this somewhat clashes with Jewish eschatology. I don’t like the word hero as it insinuates the victims had chosen this dreadful fate.

  • They are HEROES to me.

Yes, I was trained to value their actions. I live in
and was educated in a Jewish culture where I was
taught to look up to HEROES that behaved as the
    Rabbi and Rabbineet.

Yes, what they did was action. Halavay, I would
have enough guts to do as they did before and
durring their captivity, torture and even death.

Yes, I am mostly focusing my SENTIMENT of the
victims of the Nariman House. Mainly because I
know more about who they are and what great
things they have done in the past to for the sake of
the Indian and Jewish community. There are other
Jewish ppl who fell in those attacks that passed in
the way of Kidush Hashem, but I don’t know as
much details as the case of the Rabbi and Rabineet.
However, I am learning of the many details of the
rest of the Jews and Non – Jews that have also
Heroically contributed to the story. I do make a
distinction between those that heroically fall due to
Meserat Nefesh as victim and between the
deliberate higher level of sacrifice as a Chayal for
Israel. One argument can be made is that in the
case of the Rabbi and his wife they deliberately
stationed themselves in the line of danger as a
soldier – Chayal does. They knew the danger, yet
they persisted in doing great things to improve the
environment in which they served for some time, as
I believe somthing like 5 years in a Hot area known
    for terrorism.

  • Today’s Jpost: “Mumbai doctor finds no signs of torture on Chabad House bodies”

Of course, I agree with ck that as a Jew I mourn every inocent death but specially the ones that were killed for being Jews. But let’s not use unverified sources to prove a point that, at this time, doesn’t need adittional proofs: jihadists aren’t anti-sionists, they are plain, regular anti-semites…

  • Oh… wait. According to the New York Times:

“Some of the six people killed at the Jewish center in the city had been treated particularly savagely, the police said, with bodies bearing what appeared to be strangulation marks and other wounds that did not come from gunshots or grenades.”

OK. Now I feel bad again…

  • Well maybe you should give the land back to the palestinians, that may make you liked more. Though I do doubt it, you reap what you sow and you guys have been busily sowing for a long long time now….Lets hope the harvesting season doesn’t come too soon eh?

  • Really Adam? You mean the hatred against Jews is there because of the Palestinians? You need to check out your history a little.

By the way, the Palestinians lost land because of wars they started, not because it was “taken” from them.
