I am feeling happy, sad, excited, scared, nervous, ready, and most of all, fulfilled. With all these mixed emotions, I could write a more bittersweet love song than Adele right now.

It would start like this: You’re alright, but I’m here, darling, to enjoy the party… Yeah I think you’re cute, but really you should know: I just came to say Shalom.

My year in Israel has been remarkably fun, intensive and exciting, and full of such depth, purpose and meaning.

I am so sad to leave what I have built here, and to say goodbye to my beautiful friends, family members and colleagues. This is not goodbye forever; this is more of a “See you later!” because Israel has a huge place in my heart that is irreplaceable, and the feeling I have when I am here is truly indescribable.

I got so used to the Alo, Alo! thing, and even the Yalla, Nu! thing. What in the world am I going to do without it?

I am going back to the States in a month for a unique experience to work with one of the most influential individuals I have been blessed to know. He was my original connection between psychology and business. He helped me (through his books and research) decide to pursue an MBA degree. I wrote about him in my application essay for the program that I am now days away from completing. What he researches and conducts experiments on was on my mind at the start of the program, and now that it is coming to an end, through a series of events, this field found its way back into my life. I went to his lecture, wrote a post about it, and as one thing led to another, he offered me a job. It is really a dream-come-true in many ways, and although it’s not easy leaving a life I adore in Israel, I can’t wait to start the next chapter of my spontaneous, thrilling, un-Orthodox life.

Don’t mock an (about-to-be) MBA graduate for accepting such an atypical offer. I could have done what you are likely to do: you can go work in consulting or finance, earn a high salary, have a prestigious title and live in a desirable city like Tel Aviv, LA or NYC… I do not envy you. No other offer makes me feel as excited. No other position could possibly be as intellectually, emotionally and professionally fulfilling. I am following my heart on this one. North Carolina, get ready for me!

I would like to leave you with this song that I can’t get out of my head. Enjoy it, and if you’re at all like I am, don’t forget to see the value in this telling word: tizremu!
