This is a video of my Monkey Boy running across Jerusalem to “Police on My Back” by The Clash. Why did we do this? Well, because toddlers running is cute AF. I also wanted to test my DJI OM 4 – Handheld 3-Axis Smartphone Gimbal – all of this was shot on my iPhone. Pretty stable, right? But mostly, well… he’s three. And when I stop and think about it, time really is fleeting. I mean, it seems like he was born 3 weeks ago, not 3 years ago. He started off so small that for his bris announcement, I wrapped him in a laffa. And he fit. Now he walks, talks, expresses opinions, eats solid food… so much progress. Shooting this video allowed me to freeze this moment in time so that I will always have a reminder of what he was like as a goofy toddler.

This is also shot in Jerusalem in the time of Coronavirus. There are no foreign tourists, places that are usually teeming with people are practically empty. The air is cleaner, the streets are less hectic, the city is a little less cosmopolitan, but also a little more intimate. Obviously, the tourism industry is suffering, people have lost jobs, people are sick and dying and I can’t wait till this all finally ends. But I am thankful for the opportunity to have the city back to myself for a bit, to remember what a sleepy little town this actually is and to have some fun with my boy.

I hope you enjoy this, as the boy runs down the alleyways of Nachlaot, the food stalls at the Mahane Yehuda Market, the cobblestone roadways in the Old City, the Jews assembled at the Kotel and the bountiful space at Al Aqsa / Temple Mount. I know. This is totally ridiculous.

Thanks for letting me share this with you!
