Haaretz reported that Madonna defended her involvement in the Kabbalah Center.
It would be less controversial if I joined the Nazi Party … It’s not hurting anybody … What do you mean, you study the Torah if you’re not Jewish? What do you mean, you pray to God and wear sexy clothes? We don’t understand this. It frightens people. So they try to denigrate it or trivialize it so that it makes more sense.
Uh, yeah. I guess that kinda makes sense. Membership in an organization whose director took $55,000 from a desperate, dying cancer patient however, that makes far less sense. Read all about it in Haaretz!

there was a Vanity Fair article last year about the LA Kabbalah Center and how they too basically try to extort huge sums of money from members, and about how the Bergs are slightly less than legit. and i don’t feel so bad for madonna. she’s not being reviled for believing in something, she’s being reviled for using what was supposed to be a sacred thing as an i’ll-scratch-your-back-you-scratch-mine publicity extravaganza. supposedly Roseanne Barr has been studying Kabbalah for over ten years, but she never felt the need to tell everyone how to live their own lives as well. oy that madonna pisses me off. i think you can read the article here
It’s true that she’s reviled for simply believing in something.
While I have little admiration for this organization, let’s be fair and not blame the alleged crime of one of its members to the entire organization.
Then again, they sell water which they claim is unique because it is Kabbalah water. So who knows?
