Natalie Portman: Pregnant and Engaged

The Lord giveth, and the Lord taketh Away.
It’s been a bittersweet December – the same month that brought us news of Scarlett Johansson’s impending availability, now brings us news that Natalie Portman is both pregnant and engaged! One of her reps confirmed that she was engaged to choreographer Benjamin Millepied and that the couple was expecting their first child.

According to ABC news, “Portman, 29, and Millepied, 32, met during the production of “Black Swan.” Millepied, a principal dancer in New York City Ballet, choreographed the film, which has earned Portman nominations for Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild awards.” Millepied told Details magazine that he was “blown away” by her acting abilities and that she was “amazing to watch.” He didn’t go into further details about their relationship. “It’s … everybody’s asking us,” he said. “We just want to keep things to ourselves.” Echoing that sentiment, Portman told Entertainment Weekly “I have always kept my private life private but I will say that I am indescribably happy and feel very grateful to have this experience.”

Israel born Portman who emigrated when she was three, was reported in a 2006 YNet article to have said “a priority for me is definitely that I’d like to raise my kids Jewish, but the ultimate thing is to have someone who is a good person and who is a partner… I get much more Jewish in Israel.” Black Swan was not shot in Israel and there is no indication that Millepied, who was born in France, is Jewish. Delusional Jewish boys and Star Trek geeks the world over are now in mourning.
