The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) began its annual policy conference yesterday morning. Israel’s ambassador Michael Oren began the day with an address to the assembled followed by a panel with former Middle East adviser Dennis Ross and former deputy national security adviser Elliott Abrams who were both interviewed by former CNN anchor Frank Sesno. The underlying theme of this, and pretty much all AIPAC policy conferences, is the importance of maintaining the bipartisan nature of support for Israel. Other issues discussed were relations with the current administration and President Obama’s upcoming trip to Israel, Iran, the Arab Spring and the peace process. Thus far the only surprise has been AIPAc’s remix of an interview conducted by famed broadcast Journalist Edward R. Murrow, and Israel’s first Prime Minister David Ben Gurion. It’s a loungy and light club beat over a remixed interview track. I seriously have no idea what to make of it. There are programs that will allow you to strip the audio track from the YouTube video. This would allow you to upload it into your favorite MP3 player or your iPhone and play it over and over again while composing angry talk backs on Ha’aretz. Maybe AIPAC will release the track on iTunes. Whatever, I have no fucking idea what kind of weird shit you’re into. Can’t wait to see what day 2 of the AIPAC conference will bring.
