Soooo, there’s that city in southern Rhineland-Palatinate. It’s called Worms (pronounces “Vorms”, which also is the transcribed Yiddish spelling of the place) and is one of the cities of ShUM, the golden triangle of Central European Jewish culture during the Middle Ages, a place of activity of Rashi’s.

The synagogue of Worms, which dates back to the Middle Ages, survived damages during the Crusades and was badly damaged in 1938 before it was re-constructed in 1959-61, suffered an arson attack early this morning. There was only little damage to the building as the fire could be put out quickly. Police has been investigating, and a claim of responsibility surfaced which says:
As soon as you won’t leave the Palestinians in peace, we won’t leave you in peace.
(I’m not kidding you, the German text is just as horribly incorrect with a severe spelling mistake at that.)

Of course, police may not officially declare any offenders before investigations are closed, but I’m not bound by any such regulations, so here’s my pronouncement:
Whoever tried to set the Worms synagogue on fire is an effin moron.

    Dennoch komme ich nicht umhin, anzumerken, dass das in Worms aufgetauchte Bekennerschreiben zwei gravierende Grammatikfehler, einen sinnentstellenden semantischen Fehler, sowie einen ortografischen Fehler enthält, welcher im Besonderen Rückschlüsse über den Bildungsgrad des Verfassers des Bekennerschreibens zulässt.
