Hello Hillary

Saturday Night, Jerusalem
That’s what I yelled at Hillary last night at the lobby of the King David Hotel in Jerusalem. And the Senator from New York, much to the delight of the assembled crowd, graciously acquiesced. Bill was there too but he was engrossed in some conversation with some yeshivah kid. Chelsea was presumably out partying somewhere. That’s pretty much the closest I ever got to a past and perhaps future President of the United States. In Montreal of course, you run into former PMs on the street and in bars all the time, but whatever… not as many random guns and nutters in Montreal I suppose. Bill, Hillary and Chelsea attended a rally in Tel Aviv commemorating the 10th anniverssary of Yitzchak Rabin’s assasination. At the rally Bill said:

I am profoundly honored to come here today and stand in solidarity with you. There has not been a single week in the past 10 years during which I didn’t think of him or miss him. He is real to me today as he was on his last day on this earth … When you leave here tonight, after we will sing and we will miss him once more, remember: If he were here, he would say ‘enough with all of this. Live the good life, and for goodness sakes, continue my work … Thank you, God bless you, Shalom Haver.

Hillary is in Jerusalem to make up for kissing Suha Arafat attend the Saban Forum 2005, a dialogue between Americans and Israelis. The conference was organized by the Saban Center for Middle East Policy at the Brookings Institution and the Jaffee Center for Strategic Studies of Tel Aviv University. Bill gave the keynote address, while Hillary was just, you know, charming. While in town they have a full schedule that includes visiting Magen David Adom. Also in town are such luminaries as Condoleeza Rice, former secretary of state James Baker and all kinds of important folks. The conference is named for Haim Saban, a major Democratic donor who made his cash by hawking Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.

In other news, both Laya and Rebecca (as well as Rebecca’s grade 8 bible teacher – long story) agree, the creme bruleé at the King David Hotel rocks the house. Sometimes ck knows things too.

  • I love Hillary, here’s a toast to President Hillary.
I am very certain that the American people have had enough of the dopey Bush neo cons Republicans, who have not created any kind of exit strategy from Iraq, iow, there is no training for an Iraqi army that could exists w/ out USA support, this is a quagmire, we can’t leave and by staying, we are prolonging the insurgency who want us out. Do you see the vicious circle now?

  • Bill won’t be at MDA, just Hillary. But it is open to the press. I will be there working. (Skipping ulpan, did I mention?)
