What an incredible year for Shemspeed’s 8th Annual Sephardic Music Festival. This year’s festival included the annual Sephardic Scholar Series, the Sephardic Story Slam, a massive party at B.B. Kings, an opening night with The Sway Machinery, Israel’s ensemble of Israeli Moroccan, Yemenite and Ethiopian musicians and singers, led by one of Israel’s all time favorite female vocalists – Mika Karni. plus, Hasidic New Wave joined by the very special Senegalese drum ensemble, Yakar Rhythms. and last but not least, Zion80 exploring the music of Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach through the lens of the Afrobeat master Fela Anikulapo Kuti… and tons more!
