Oh my. That was rather harsh! Who would say such a thing? Was it an angry Jewish resident of Hebron? A West Bank settler picking the flesh of Palestinian babies from his teeth? An otherwise innocent American Congressman being goaded by a cabal of powerful but stealthy Jews? Well… no. Because if it was you’d read about it like friggin everywhere – all over the news, on whiney blogs, in academic reports or in books written by former peanut farmer Presidents.
No you’ll probably never read about this because the perpetrators are other Muslims and that’s kinda boring. See, immediately prior to the latest American invasion of Iraq, there were approximately 40,000 Palestinians living there. Now 600 have been murdered since 2003 and only 20,000 remain in Iraq. The Telegraph reported:
Hundreds of Iraqis were forced to leave their homes to make way for the [Palestinian] migrants, many of whom joined the ruling Ba’ath party… “We are sure that all the Palestinians in Iraq are involved in killing the Shia people and they have to pay the price now,” he said. “They lived off our blood under Saddam. We were hungry with no food and they were comfortable with full bellies. They should leave now, or they will have to pay…” Ahmed Mahmood, 26, a Palestinian in Baladiat, said he had paid a ransom of nearly £3,000 to free his brother, Murad Mahmood, 38… The kidnappers in Sadr City, a Shia area of Baghdad, told him where to collect his brother, but he arrived to find he had been killed… “We found him dead with signs of torture on his body,” Ahmed said. “They called us the next day and said, ‘We killed your brother because all the Palestinians in Iraq love Saddam Hussein and this is what will happen to you and all your families’.”
Now I could explain how the perpetrators of these crimes against the Palestinians are mostly Shiites and that Palestinians in Iraq are mostly Sunnis who often supported Sadam Hussein and even became members of the Baath Party. I could also note how Jordan is refusing to allow escaping Palestinians to cross its border, which is kind of ironic given… I could… but I can see your eyes are glazing over already and you’re thinking “Yawn-O-Ramma… this is booooring.” So I’ll just leave you be I suppose.

xisnotx, without alluding to whether I agree with the nature of this post or not, I will tackle your question. First of all, this is what your link says:
That is not that the reporting is at a rate of 7.5 to 1. 2004 happened to be the year when Israel started building the security barrier and found many effective ways to combat Palestinian terror. As a result, over 95% of attempted terror attacks failed.
What your site also says is that:
Now while your site makes a song and dance about how Palestinian lives are less valued because not every death receives coverage as it appears the Israeli deaths receive, there are two things that stand out for me. One, there were 4 times as many stories about Palestinian deaths as Israeli deaths, a definite advantage to the narrative of the Palestinians being heard. The second thing I learn is that spectacular deaths in terror attacks are more likely to be covered in the media than more mundane types of killings of people attempting attacks. Of course, the irony is that the Palestinian terrorists seek this outcome of significant media coverage of their attacks.
what does it make you wonder, CK? no one gives a shit if palestinians kill palestinians, as you point out. but if palestinians kill Israelis? headlines, right? According to this “If Americans Knew” study, Israeli deaths are reported on at a rate of 7.5 per 1 palestinian death in the Associated Press. http://www.ifamericansknew.org/media/ap-report.html
Can you refute that?
ck, how come my trackback / ping from Oy Bay isn’t appearing here?
Was the word “Israel” even used on this post? I was simply calling attention to other injustices suffered by the Palestinian people.
So no one gives a shit if Arabs victimize Palestinians, or if other Palestinians victimize Palestinians. This does not give Israel carte blanche with respect to its own treatment, but… it does make one wonder. Aint nuthin’ wrong with that…
You’re using these people’s suffering to make a point about how Israel is treated in the press. are you not? like it somehow lets Israel off the hook.
For the record X… I think what’s happening to the Palestinians in Iraq is awful – 600 murders in 3 years?? Palestinians ought to benefit from the rule of law and if they are being singled out, then it behooves the authorities, whether Coalition Forces or the Iraqis to offer them whatever protection is necessary. Yeah I’m an Israel-booster. And a genuine humanitarian as well. Don’t make baseless assumptions.
I think it’s excellent hasbara, and shows what genuine humanitarians Israel-boosters are.
Please elaborate, Israel. What is it that you find offensive?
This post is immensely offensive and not what I expect from Jewlicious! I say this as an Israeli and professional Israel-advocate
MWA-ha-ha!!!
Chickens, roost.
Roost, chickens.
I love the smell of schadenfreude in the morning!
which is kind of ironic given… I could… but I can see your eyes are glazing over already and you’re thinking “Yawn-O-Ramma… this is booooring.†So I’ll just leave you be I suppose.
… Nnnn-no! No no no! Don’t leave us hanging ck! Let it out! Say it loud & clear! Share with the class!
The ‘palestinians’ got kicked out of Kuwait and the other Gulf states in the same way. you also havent seen a word about Abbas pulling an Arafat, first getting armed by Jews and then demanding in front of 10000 of his brethren at a rally that those very same weapons be turned on the Jews. but i guess its just another story the new york times, or any other outlet ouside of israel deems newsworthy.
