Last night we celebrated Tu B’Shvat, the New Year of the Trees at Ezra’s place in Jerusalem. The room was filled beyond capacity as we conducted a Tu B’Shvat Seder, sort of like a Passover Seder but with more fruit and no Matza. Former employee Chaviva enlightened the room with a dvar Torah wherein she stated the importance of making brachot – not only is one thanking God for the food but in doing so one is uplifting everyone involved in the process of getting that food to you from the farmer, to the truck driver to the dude that pumped the gas to the check out person who sold it to you. I thought that was kind of cool. Afterwards I went to the Kotel to commune with the Shechinah. Because I can. Yay. Happy Tu B’Shvat and thanks again to our host Ezra who continues to go above and beyond the call of duty in facilitating events like this for the denizens of Jerusalem. What the heck is his Web site address? Anyone? Anyone? I forgot after the 4th cup of wine…
