You know, if I had to come up with a fairy-tale metaphor showing Democracy as a maleficent force trying to “keep Germany down,” I’d probably use Cinderella. Then I could add several more layers to the story — the evil stepsisters as the “allied powers,” the fairy-godmother as Goebbels, the Prince as… I don’t know, Hitler. Rapunzel is just so boring.
Oh, wait. Rapunzel was an Aryan broad, and Cinderella probably had syphilis. My bad.

What is interesting is that there was no mention of antisemitism in this cartoon, though it was surely among the most salient aspects of the Nazi regime. This, I think, reflects the latent (and certainly milder) antisemitism common among Americans at the time, and characteristic of Disney.
