The day will actually begin with a 1.5-mile “Salute to Israel Walk†escorted by the “9/11 Tribute Cars†at 8:30am. Performances throughout the park on three different stages; Artist Pavilion to showcase 21 artists from Israel who made the trip especially for the festival; 16-foot wide color-by-number oil paint mural of the Tel Aviv coastline by Tomer Perez for the community to paint; official ceremony with local and state dignitaries at 4:30PM. Legendary Israeli rock group Mashina, the Spazmatics, amusement park, Kidspace Children’s Museum at the Park, Café Tel Aviv; History of Israel digital tunnel, SpaceIL aircraft and much more. .
Thousands are expected to attend the highly anticipated, community-wide, “Celebrate Israel Festival†sponsored by the Israeli American Council. The event will be held again this year at the Cheviot Hills Recreation Center, 2551 Motor Avenue in Los Angeles. www.celebrateisraelfestival.com
Legendary Israeli rock band, Mashina — most young participants may have never heard of them, but don’t let that scare you — will headline the main stage at the festival at 5:30pm. The Spazmatics, will open the show with a funky, up-beat performance of 80’s followed by the official ceremony to take place at 4:30PM on the main stage.
Don’t miss out on this year’s spectacular Artist Pavilion which will showcase twenty-one Israeli artists who will are coming from Israel especially for the festival. Artist will be showcasing and selling jewelry, handbags, paintings, sculptures and various Judaica. Festival attendees will also have the opportunity to channel their own creativity by participating in a color-by-number 16-foot mural of the Tel Aviv coastline that will be curated by local artist, Tomer Perez.
A noteworthy addition to this year’s festival will be the Digital History Tunnel of Israel where you can view the key highlights of the State of Israel from the establishment of the country until present day.
After revisiting the past it’s time to look toward the future by visiting Israel’s Space IL’s spacecraft model. The festival is excited to showcase SpaceIL, a non-profit organization in Israel whose goal is to make Israel the third country in the world to land on the moon. The organization will showcase a model of the spaceship intended to reach the moon, this will for a great photo opportunity for the entire family!
Don’t fear, parking is near! With the huge support of the Century City business owners, there is plenty of parking spaces dedicated to the festival at discounted rates. Parking lots are located at 2000 Ave. of the Stars, 2030 Ave. of the Stars and 10250 Constellation Blvd, and 4000 West Galaxy Way. Shuttles will be provided throughout the day from all parking lots to the park.
Your family won’t want to leave KIDZONE this year! Kidspace Children’s Museum is bringing a variety of displays and experiments that will captivate young scientist. Besides that the children’s area will include an amusement park with rides for all ages, free arts and crafts area, kid’s stage with live entertainment all day, face painting, stilt walkers, puppy petting zoo, juggling acts, reptile shows and more.
