Even descriptions like “massively influential” fail to adequately describe the scope and the breadth of Lou Reed’s influence on the world of rock music over the last 50 years. Lou Reed passed away from undisclosed causes last night in Long Island. He was 71 years old. He was born in Brooklyn and raised in Freeport, Long Island. His parents were Jewish and while he described himself as Jewish he stated “My God is rock’n’roll. It’s an obscure power that can change your life. The most important part of my religion is to play guitar.”
Rest in Peace Lou. We’ll be saying kaddish for ya anyway.
