According to Israeli HMO data: “the number of women now in their fifth, sixth or seventh month of pregnancy was 35 percent higher than the figure a year ago. ”
It means that war IS good for children. Isn’t that just silly? Nasrallah’s war actually brought more Jews into the world! This helps back up previous war baby booms: Israel experienced a four-year baby boom after the Six-Day War in 1967 and births increased sharply for two years following the end of its 1973 Yom Kippur War.
And the oppression that the Jews endured as slaves in Egypt also helped multiply our numbers.
When the going gets the tough, the Jews go to bed! You gotta love this nation. You can see the Scandinavians being morose and un-reproductive following war or defeat. You can imagine other nations (and many of my generation) wondering why should we bring kids into a world with war, Bush, Iran etc.
The American Baby Boom also had pragmatic as well as life affirming origins.
The moral of the story? If there is another war this summer in Lebanon, expect more Jewish babies about 40 weeks later.
Ok. then perhaps its universal!
You can see the Scandinavians being morose and un-reproductive following war or defeat.
On the contrary! Morosity might be a genetical trait around this part of the world, but being un-reproductive? Hardly so. For example, Finland is facing a big dilemma with a whole BIG bunch of people starting to reach retirement basically simultaneously.
Just check this picture. If you subtract the age of about 60 from the year 2005, you end up with the year 1945 – once the soldiers got back from the fronts during WWII, they made love, not war.
