In less than a month, the George W. Bush Presidency will come to a close. The American people will be left with an expanded war on terror that has eroded civil liberties at home and embroiled the armed forces in an Iraqi quagmire, an economy that is in full meltdown mode and a country divided by partisanship and a lack of faith in its leaders. Say what you will about George though, whatever happens, however history will view his Presidency, he will always be able to say “I did it my way.”

  • I bet any rabbi would make fun of “Yamaka” and “Sader” once he saw either.

Has anybody got a more convincing political “conversion” story to come up with?

  • I have to admit, I voted for George Bush…both terms. But after spending a lot of time with my Rabbi and talking politics at Bar Mitzvahs recently, I have become very aware of how misguided I was. I bet George Bush would make fun of my Yamaka if he saw it. Anyway, I am excited to vote for Obama and finally bring someone into office who I would actually invite to Sader dinner…La Heim!!

  • You know Alex, since you seem to believe that Democrats are responsible for everything the Republicans drive forward, I think you’ll be happy under a Democratic Administration. You certainly won’t feel a difference, according to your logic. Everything Republican is actually Republican/Democrat. At least if it’s something worth criticizing. So it doesn’t make a difference, does it? You’re like Nader on that score. So good for you, when the Democrats and their new Democratic President pass bills, you can say that Republicans are equally responsible for those bills.

  • Dems didn’t need to vote for them. Remember? Bush had the House AND the Senate.

  • W created these laws all on his own or were there Democrats who voted for them? Aren’t those calls limited to overseas calls to countries in the middle east?

  • Why don’t you start with the government, under “small government” Republicans, asking phone companies to spy on their customers? Or asking for and getting permission to arrest, without any requirement to provide a lawyer or even a reason, any permanent resident of the US. That is, any law abiding, tax paying resident who is not a citizen can be arrested. All you need is to suspect them of something. Do those two count?

  • Which of your civil liberties are eroded? Are you sure it wasn’t the attacks on our country that eroded them but W? Why don’t you just put a countdown clock at the top of the site? Those are soo cool!
