I swear I’ve never seen anything like it. And I hope I never will again, either.
Sarah Techiya Litman and Ariel Beigel got married tonight in Jerusalem, just 13 days after her father Ya’akov and brother Netanel were murdered by Palestinian terrorists. Sarah Techiya decided that the best response to the murderers who hate life would be to go on living hers, and so decided to postpone the wedding by just a week, till after the ‘Shiva’ mourning period ended, and invite all of Israel to celebrate with her from 10pm onwards.
And so people came. Not a few. They flocked here in their hundreds. Thousands. People came from all over Israel and Jews even came from other countries just to be here for an hour or so. The venue was packed to the rafters and the newlyweds were forced to come outside to dance with the overflow of guests.
What a beautiful outpouring of love in a time of tragedy. What a moving way to shine a light at a moment of the deepest darkness. Bless you, Sarah Techiya and Ariel, and bless all those who came to show solidarity and love.
And a message to the terrorists: You’ll never beat us. Never. Our love is stronger than your hate.
