  • TM: On my recent March of the Living trip, our adult tour had a chance to visit the Rubin Museum in TLV. I’m now in love with his work, and I understand why my friend at http://www.zionist.org admires his work, too.

  • It is Reuven Rubin, Oyster. This is representative of his landscape work, David. These days I think he is probably considered Israel’s pre-eminent modern painter or perhaps one of the premier two or three. He is long since passed away and originals are hard to come by. You can see some of his work at his museum’s website but otherwise you’re going to have to hunt for a catalog or on the Internet because some of his best work is not owned by the Rubin museum (he lived in Tel Aviv for a long while and the city converted his home and studio into a commemorative museum. I once arrived there with my wife after closing time and the guard was kind enough to open the place just for us – a very Israeli gesture and moment).

These posters at the museum’s online gift shop give you some fairly good additional images of his paintings.

  • God, this painting is absolutely stunning. Who’s work is it, Middle?
