I just got back from New York City and it seemed like everywhere I went – from Battery Park, to Union Square, to the Lower East side, to Midtown, Upper West Side, … everywhere – there they were: Chabad guys with lulavs and etrogs asking everyone and anyone if they were Jewish. I also saw about half a dozen succot set up haphazardly on various streets and sidewalks. Just how many Chabad dudes does it take to create such a ubiquitous presence? Oh and if you’re ever looking for a good, world class kosher meal in New York, don’t go to My Most Favorite Dessert Company, unless you like bland, wicked expensive food, fruit flies and dirty dishes. Dessert was not bad and the service was fine, but it is no longer a place I can bring a non-Jewish client to without being embarrassed. Otherwise my three day jaunt in NYC was big fun.
