This “are celebrities Jewish?” thing has gone too far now, with “Equus” audience members identifying Daniel Radcliffe as a member of the tribe by noting a distinctive alteration to his, er, magic wand. (Daniel’s mom is Jewish and dad is not.)

I could have lived very happily without knowing whether certain actors are circumcised or not. In fact, I would like to spend zero time contemplating anyone’s bris status, let alone that of celebrities, and this is certainly true for 17-year-olds who play wizards in children’s movies. And as for people who go to see plays to ogle an underage wizard’s equipment? Yuck.

At any rate, I guess they’ll have to take the “hog” out of Hogwarts now.

  • poor harry — guess i always assumed his uhhh.. nightly self-pleasuring was made simple b/c of his European “unaltered” status….

  • I just saw for myself, and he is most DEFINITELY not… um brised?

I have to admit, it was v. awkward seeing Harry Potter naked, but I can assure you the first thing that shocked me about this revelation was his … Jewish authenticity…

frankly I’m always interested in hearing the status of my favorite stars, but I would very much prefer not to see it first hand… thats just weird.

  • harry p and co been circumcised as a rital for the last term at hogworts why not!

  • Do I get an award for unbelievable feats of self-restraint in not commenting on this post? (And believe me…I got comments!)

  • Could it be that we are living in the times of the great battle of Gog U’Mugle?

  • A story asking to be written as a Harry Potter spinoff would have his classmate Anthony Goldstein go on Birthright or something like that.

  • I was just invited to an academic seminar on the politics of circumcision in the USSR. The possibilities for inquiry are limitless.
