By now, of course, anybody near any form of media knows that Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the notorious and unfortunately very effective Al Qaeda leader in Iraq, was killed by American and Iraqi forces yesterday. This man is responsible for an insurgent war that has used bombings to target far more than military targets. Numerous civilians in Iraq have been killed or maimed as a result of his leadership, not to mention civilians inside Jordan.

So what does Hamas do after al-Zarqawi’s death is announced? Put out a press release, of course. They sent it to Reuters (not a big surprise to those of us following along) claiming they mourn the “martyr of the (Muslim Arab) nation.”

“With hearts full of faith, Hamas commends brother-fighter Abu Musab … who was martyred at the hands of the savage crusade campaign which targets the Arab homeland, starting in Iraq,”

Remember folks, these are the elected leaders of the Palestinian people.
