Attention: Ladies in the Greater Jerusalem area!

Open up your calendars and mark down these dates – November 30, December 4 and December 6, 2016.  These are your last three chances to see the refreshed, rethought and expanded version of “Count the Stars: The Journey of Avraham and Sara”, produced by the Women’s Performance Community in Jerusalem in partnership with the OU Israel Center.

An original musical directed by Shifra C. Penkower and co-produced by Sharon Katz and Avital Macales, Count the Stars recounts the story of Judaism’s first patriarch and matriarch, and details their adventures through Mesopotamia to Canaan alongside a cast of poignant, moving and funny characters.  The themes introduced in the production are authentic and relatable, ranging from family and fertility issues to the uncomfortable feelings of being a stranger in a foreign land to the loneliness of forging out on a mission without being fully certain of its outcome and success.  Actors Avital Macales and Sara Lopez do a standout job in their respective portrayals of Avraham and Sara, depicting characters that are strong and endearing, yet relatable and human.

The scenes are highly entertaining with “doowop”-style angels who comfort Hagar at the Well with pizazz in Act II, and a talented cast of 50+ women from elementary school through retiree age that include singers, tap dancers, lyrical dancers, method actors, wardrobe artists and more.  The costumes are colorful and vivid, adding an element of visual delight to an already-engaging show and the location choice of the Gerard Behar Theater adds a gravitas and respect to the production that is well-deserved.

All shows begin at 8pm.  Running time is approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes.  For more information, connect with Count the Stars on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/events/1793742067574510/ and reserve your tickets at www.tixwise.co.il/countthestars while supplies last!
