…or so Muffti and Kenny think. The band tool, after a characteristically long hiatus, put out an album with a song called ‘Right in Two’. The new album is great. Reprinted below are excerpted lyrics from the song:

angels on the sideline
puzzled and amused
why did Father give these humans free will?
now they’re all confused

don’t these talking monkeys know that Eden has enough to go around?
playing in this holy garden, silly old monkeys
well there’s one you’re bound to divide it
right in two

angels on the sideline
baffled and confused
father blessed them all with reason
and this is what they choose
monkey killing monkey killing monkey
over pieces of the ground

silly monkeys given thumbs
they forge a blade
and then theres one bound to divide it

brothers sleep inside here

cut it all right in two
cut it all right in two

  • I actually kind of like this band. I guess I shouldn’t hope for more incisive reasoning from a rock band though. Sounds like a nice vision, just cut the thing in two. But what to do when one of the monkeys demands both halves?

I guess the lyrics for a song called “Educate Your Monkeys For Peace” just don’t carry a rock song. Oh well.

  • It probably got caught up in the moderation queue for spam and accidentally deleted. It happens. We don’t intentionally delete comments. Don’t be such a friggin’ crybaby.

  • a couple corrections:

    Angels on the sideline,
    Puzzled and amused.
Why did Father give these humans free will?
    Now they’re all confused.

Don’t these talking monkeys know that Eden has enough to go around?
Plenty in this holy garden, silly monkeys
Where there’s one you’re bound to divide it
    Right in two

    Angels on the sideline,
    Baffled and confused.
Father blessed them all with reason,
And this is what they choose?

Monkey killing monkey killing monkey over pieces of the ground.
Silly monkeys give them thumbs they forge a blade
And where there’s one they’re bound to divide it
    Right in two

Monkey killing monkey killing monkey over pieces of the ground.
Silly monkeys give them thumbs they make a club,
    And beat their brother down.
How they survive so misguided is a mystery.
Repugnant is a creature who would squander the ability,
To lift an eye to heaven, conscious of his fleeting time here.

  • You don’t understand the song, and it isn’t right to claim that someone or some group has certain ideas that you don’t know for a fact that they have. I’m not sure that this song really has anything to do with any specific political situation, but CLEARLY it isn’t in SUPPORT of a two state solution. The whole song is about the futility of dividing things. The angels in the song are practically mocking humanity because of our propensity to divide and separate. Listen to the song again, reread the lyrics. Obviously you missed something. Everything. The entire song went over your head.

  • all right people, listen up. all too often we come across diverse perspectives of things that we observe. misunderstood and shallow presumtions need not be uttered. a wasted effort in an attempt to be the first one with the correct idea is an action made in vain. the song is obviously an outlook as to how angels may have perceived the creation of humans, looking down in curious confusion. angels dont understand the concept of greed, envy, jealousy, ect. if they had those characteristics, they would be squabbling just like us imperfect humans. we live on earth with everything we need to better our human race as a whole, yet we live solely for ourselves. why? if you want to own a planet, figure out what it takes to survive on mars.
with that being said, right in two is a song that can be heard right in two. what do i mean by that you ask? there is an underlying addition that needs to be excavated with diligent scrutiny. maybe you need to listen, rather than hear. try a good quality pair of headphones, a cup of tea, and a couple hours of LISTENING time. one hint to guide you along, Repugnant is a creature who would squander the ability,
To lift an eye to heaven, conscious of his fleeting time here.
Conscious brothers meet inside here, along with some overdubbed accents and syllables could very well be, conscious of his fleeting time here. try to think without presumtions. thanx for your time.

These stanzas say that there is enough land to go around for everyone (“Plenty in this holy garden”). But for some reason humans fight. Nations go to war over land, thus splitting the land in two.

The warring monkeys are “stupid.” The message is for everyone to share and get along.

(First visit to jewlicious.com, I was looking for the lyrics to the song.)

  • The point of the song could also be – in conjunction with two other songs on the album in particular, being “Vicarious,” and “Rosetta Stoned” – a plea for everyone to start trying to get along, regardless of differences in perception. Our people are divided, and it really has nothing to do with nations, or race, or anything else…. oh, wait, for most people, it would be just exactly that…. I forget the prejudices, and self-vindicating pride that most folks carry around in their heart, so I don’t want to offend anyone’s fragile insensitivities regarding such matters. Fact of the matter is, the whole album, excepting the portions where Maynard speaks regarding his mother’s Christian devotion(suffering through 20 years – 10,000 days – of cancer, and how she remained, even through paralysis, a devoted Christian, convinced that Jesus would heal her illness), is really about stopping the wheels that are presently turning, and taking back power from those who we’ve entrusted just deeply enough to allow them constant abuse, and reconnecting ourselves with each other to stop the end from coming. We’re quite capable, at this point, of wiping ourselves out, and fewer people seem to grasp the concept of setting down the instruments of murder. People tune out to the real world, soaked into their newest reality show, or posting their latest blog…. they forget the dying, ill, and homeless in their own streets, and turn their eyes ever outward, to the suffering abroad…. they seek to elevate themselves, and not to elevate each other…. it can go as deep as the mind – any mind – might imagine. And that will likely go deeper than most are accustomed to, if even capable of. The fact that you counterpoint so is evidence of this phenomenon…. and I get the feeling you more do it to one-up someone than to inform them of the true message behind the lyrics…. We’re all brothers, and sisters…. friends, and lovers…. but if it’s all about who has the biggest brain, and the most acute perceptions…. well, sorry folks…. but that’s me, didn’t anyone give you the memo? Take care of yourselves, and be good…. –Archangel–
