We done found black gold. over 6 million barrels of it.
According to Ynet “At drilling site north of Dead Sea, oil struck at depth of 1,800 meters. According to estimates, there are about 6.5 million barrels of crude oil, worth about USD 300 million”.
Well, boys and girls, it just goes to show you, you can always trust the Rebbe!

The Rebbe is full of it, Oil in Israel has been a speculation for many decades, going back to the british. I love how the Rebbe is now deemed a prophet because he read an article in the Economist about it and correctly assumed the rest of his Lubavichers probably don’t read secular periodicals.

Uh…yeaaahhh…no. Actually, I’m pretty sure that if the Messiah was ever going to come, he changed his mind after they started singing that song. God knows I would.
g-d squad, truthfully, I’m not.
Oyster- Good call.
Michael- Gam ani.
Laya- I didn’t know you were such a supporter. Werd.
Oyster, a fudge factor of 1/3.438 would do the trick. Ask any Enron accountant how to apply properly!
Awww… man! Finnish, could you re-crunch those numbers and have it come out to seven days / eight nights? 🙂
Factoid: Israel uses 270100 barrels a day (CIA World Factbook 2005), so that reserve is about 24 days worth, using year 2005 consumption figures.
So I agree with my dear Mr. Oyster, 24 days worth of oil is indeed what one could call a strategic reserve.
… and I suddenly feel compelled to wrap/don/lay/wear Tefilin… 🙂
Seriously, though. Israel should save that oil as a strategic reserve in case of an embargo or war. Israel doesn’t have such vast natural resources that it can afford to squander them on a quick buck.
wow. i suddenly feel compelled to check my mezzuzah
Good one, Rabbi! But perhaps we should take the full plethora of rabbi predictions and see what the overall track record is before we throw our trust around…
