I mean really, any simpleton can figure that out. You’d have to be either extremely paranoid, or extremely manipulative, or I don’t know what, to think that OWS is riddled with anti-Semitism. I mean, you’d have to have a turtle brain to think that a few visibly disturbed individuals, who have no authority within the movement, represent said movement. As for OWS being anti-Israel, that too is beyond the scope of the broadly based economic movement, regardless of how much the usual suspects (Mondoweiss, Silverstein, Electronic Intifada et. al.) want to nudge it in that direction. Food for thought now that the occupiers won a victory in court allowing them to camp out at Zucotti Park. Hopefully, we can now continue the discussion without wasting time on nonsense. But just in case you forget, check out Eli Valley‘s latest cartoon in the Forward, featuring Stuart the Jewish Snapping Turtle as he occupies Wall Street. Once again, I colorized one of Valley’s characters by way of illustration. I actually sampled colors from a Snapping Turtle too, though no colors from a Jew.

  • Sorry boychik. But OWs did not win that case. The judge said they can go to the park during the day but cannot safety overnight and no tents, no sleeping bags, nada. This is a health and safety issue that rumps anything else.

Oh and as far as the antisemitism…its not that it is part and parcel of the entire group but there is noone out there condemning it. The antisemites are not ejected from the encampments and once identified as the leaders of their particular squatter camp, these people refuse to condemn it.

And dont’ point to the defunct and useless ADL. They are so in the tank for Obama that if Obama said the American Nazis Party only haL the Jew’s best intersts at heart, ADl would endorse that.

And don’t point to the defunct and useless ADL. They are so in the tank for Obama (and Obama has endorsed OWS) that if Obama said the American Nazis Party only had the Jew’s best interests at heart, ADL would endorse that.

  • Well said Independent Patriot. Lefty Jewish denial of the obvious in order to attain the ideological goal is rampant in these parts. Personally, what I’ve seen with my own two eyes trumps this denial. Because CK, and I like him, says A != A, doesn’t mean he’s right.

Also, good call on the ADL catch. I read in some Jewish magazine yesterday about how we shouldn’t criticize Obama because if he gets re-elected, our criticisms of him will cause him to be even more unfair to Israel. The depths of the Lefty Jewish obsession with staying on the plantation knows no bounds.

  • Over here we teach students that not taking action when they spot a crime is a way of committing it themselves (there also are legal repercussions if you don’t help a person in need etc.). Passivism becomes activism; there’s no excuse whatsoever for that. I like EV, but this comic has the undertone of a self-complacent smirk. If this is grassroots democracy, there should be a strong call to ban each and any racist, sexist etc. behaviour and sentiments. There were rapes. I find that alarming no matter how many drum circles they organise.

  • Right. Soros was an 11 year old Kapo. Never mind that the Soros Fondation has in fact donated money to Synagogues and there is no indication that Soros funded OWS or is in any way a self hating Jew. What total nonsense. Please address your issue with OWS’s fundamental message which is that deregulation of the capital markets is a bad idea that decimates the underlying economy to the benefit of a few bankers. Is there anything anti-Semitic in that message? You do know that dishonest business practices are among the things listed in Judaism as an abomination, right? What would you call selling credit derivatives that the bankers knew were crap as AAA rated investments. A toevah, or an “abomination” as defined by the Jewish religion.

  • +Nickidewbear Thank you for proving Godwin’s law again.

In these times of uncertainty it’s nice to see that some things just won’t change.

  • CK, if you feel comfortable defending Soros, by all means, do, but please don’t make it like there’s some Jewish collective endorsement of the guy. He is pure evil and I only pray for the worst for him.

Abu, Did Nickidewbear actually call anyone Nazis? Guilt by association, maybe. No Goodwin Law violated.

And Soros is a self-hating Jew.

    • AlexK – a Kapo is a Nazi enabler no? Look at Soros’s birthdate – he was 15 when the war ended. He, along with other kids, worked for the Jewish Council handing out fliers. That hardly makes one a Kapo. He’s critical of the US and critical of Israel, and while I disagree with him, I can’t take issue with his right to his own opinion. So what exactly has he said or done that would make him a self hating Jew?

  • Being critical of Israel does not necessarily make one a self-hating Jew. Being consistently critical of Israel all the time, and supporting organizations that try to undermine it, does. I guess the term “self-hating Jew” is very subjective, so I guess I’ll stress the fact that he is a giant turd, rolled in hair and set on fire, or at least that’s what I hope happens to him.

With that said, check out this article:

    http://www.commentarymagazine.com/2011/10/13/occupy-wall-street-kalle-lasn/

“Organizer Behind “Occupy Wall Street” Has History of Anti-Jewish Writing”

“That’s not to say the Occupy Wall Street movement itself is anti-Semitic. But if the top organizer behind the Tea Party turned out to have published a blacklist of American Jews he claimed had dual loyalty to the U.S. and Israel, the backlash from the media would be massive. And if the top leader of the Tea Party fought a legal battle with the U.S. Holocaust Museum over an offensive collage he made using Warsaw Ghetto photos, politicians certainly wouldn’t be lining up to support the movement.”

Again, it’s the double standards that are appalling. I definitely did not see one pro-tea party article on this site, whilst there has been a plethora of them here. Which again goes back to my theory about American Jewishness, (mostly positive of course), but wrought with allegiance to leftist ideology over Jewishness.

  • Alex, if and when the Occupy movement actually becomes anti-Semitic, you’ll hear about it from us. It is much greater than its founder and was not founded on the basis of what he had done or said in the past. Right now it’s not doing anybody any good to continue with these accusation when they really don’t represent the facts. In fact, it’s one of those moments that exemplifies why the term anti-Semitism is losing its strength. Use it judiciously or lose it.

As for the Tea Party, it would be easier to write something nice if they didn’t have so many fiscal extremists in their ranks; extremists who played the key role in pulling our economy back about a year during the summer’s debt ceiling war. We’re not children and this isn’t a game. This is the livelihood of millions and millions of Americans that they’re playing with in order to score ideological points. Now they are busy pushing the Republicans to ever more extreme political positions on government, taxes and the federal budget. Watch out! If they succeed, your friend Obama will win re-election.

  • “fiscal extremists” dude. you crack me up. In fact, I prefer you worked up. Reminds me people passing out fliers to prevent fur seal hunting or some stuff like that. It’s that 60’s Jew in you, I know you can’t help it. But it’s old. Worn out.

The Republicans (in the race) are in deed idiots and most likely will hand this election to the guy with terrorists and anti-semites as friends, your savior, Barry Sotero Obama or Hussein or whatever it is OK to call him nowadays. So basically, yet again, I’m stuck between low brow religious thumpers on the right and screeching leftist ideologue class warfareniks (with iPads) on the left. So happy to have my own line to tow. Love ya.

Happy Thanksgiving Jewlicious crew! But not to Obama and Soros. May they choke on a wishbone.

  • Do you dispute some part of this? “As for the Tea Party, it would be easier to write something nice if they didn’t have so many fiscal extremists in their ranks; extremists who played the key role in pulling our economy back about a year during the summer’s debt ceiling war. We’re not children and this isn’t a game. This is the livelihood of millions and millions of Americans that they’re playing with in order to score ideological points.”

And to remind you, I wanted Hilary and never did like Obama. Then again, I remember well why I thought the Republicans didn’t deserve to be in office again: the economy. If they want to convince the public that they deserve to run the country, they might wish to think long and hard about the way they are running their campaigns right now.

By the way, I’m fairly certain that right wingers use IPads.

  • Sure they do. They just don’t whine about being oppressed while using them.

Look man, your boy has raised the debt more in his short stint than Bush did in 2 terms. They were both wrong for doing it, only difference is Obama is doing it for a different reason. The guy was preaching anti-Americanism years ago. You think you wash that out with a couple of good books? He doesn’t believe in American Exceptionalism. Pardon me if I have trouble believing he would really have my/our best interests in mind. The fact that you even defend him after the way he has treated Israel thus far tells me all I have to know about your POV.

I guess you still believe in Keynesian economics. Good luck with that. I guess I’m a fiscal extremist. Count me in.

  • I don’t see myself defending anybody. I see myself attacking the idiots at the Tea Party who took the USA to the precipice of a huge dark financial hole and even though they failed to utterly destroy the economy, they still caused enough damage with their idiotic game to bring us back to where we were a year earlier. And it was completely unnecessary.

As for Obama, you can insult him all you like. Go ahead. All I’m saying is that if the Republicans allow themselves to be hijacked by people who have no sense of the hole we are in and its implications, then they will lose the next election.

  • Funny you blame a group of concerned citizens (who happened not to rape anyone or crap on police cars) and not the Democratic President AND both Democratic houses of Congress for taking America to the precipice. So you’re either biased or have an extremely flimsy grasp on economics.

    • All Obama has proven is that he is no different than his Republican predecessor. They both fucked up on the economy and they both “saved” it by saving the banks and companies that brought it down. The fact is that almost everything that led us to this precipice in the first place occurred under the Bush Administration’s watchful gaze over Wall Street and the banks. Indeed, they were right on top of that whole derivatives, securities and mortgage fraud perpetrated by all these lovely institutions who continue to dominate our politicians. Both the Bush and Obama administrations have permitted average Americans to be destroyed economically with their home values, pension portfolios and incomes devalued significantly while permitting the banks and other related companies to benefit from rules and support that people without lobbying capabilities don’t enjoy.

What the Republicans are showing, however, led by the concerned citizens of the Tea Party (what, they’re “concerned citizens” but Occupy protesters aren’t?), is that even this largess isn’t enough and they plan to outdo even Obama in helping their primary clients, the wealthy, large corporations and the institutions they control, to continue to screw the economy and all those who aren’t wealthy enough to be contributing to political campaigns.

By the way, just in case you’ve forgotten, the House is controlled by the Republicans so that what happened this summer was without any doubt the fruit of the Republican majority and particularly all the Tea Party freshmen. Also, the Senate may have a Democratic majority but it is extremely slim and can’t get anything passed without Republican consent. The fact is the Republicans are doing everything they can to torpedo an economic recovery because of the 2012 election. Except that Obama is now revealing how entrenched against any new or helpful ideas the Repubs have become…and people aren’t stupid. They understand that their livelihoods and general prosperity is being harmed by people who care more about political games than compromise and finding a way to fix and move forward.

  • Sadly the economic predicament the US finds itself in now was brought to you thanks to the help of every administration from Reagan to Obama, both Democrats and Republicans who eroded the level of regulatory oversight of the capital markets.

I went to a Tea Party meeting in Fresno. All they talked about was how much they loved Israel – but it was before OWS. It was in a meeting room in a really good gun club. I went and popped off a couple of rounds on an M-4, a .45 revolver and a couple of 9 mils. The Tea Partiers were super friendly but I was a little sort of stunned I guess is the best word…

  • Hey, guess who funds Media Matters and CAP? Soros. Just a follow up…

    http://washingtonjewishweek.com/main.asp?SectionID=88&SubSectionID=275&ArticleID=16247&TM=47561.99

“The Simon Wiesethal Center called the attacks made on it by some liberal bloggers “dangerous political libels” that resonate “with historic and toxic anti-Jewish prejudices.”

The Wiesenthal Center is *commenting on the reports and writings of several bloggers at Media Matters and the Center for American Progress’ Think Progress blog. The material was highlighted in a report published last week by Politico discussing how the left leaning CAP and Media Matters find themselves at odds with more centrist elements of the Democratic Party on the issue of Israel.”

  • No, I didn’t know that. So? Is there a point I’m supposed to infer from that? How much do you make? How much does Abe Fox make? Do their salaries have any bearing on the point he’s making?

  • I think Abe Foxman makes $500,000 a year. I find it fascinating, that’s all. I get nothing when I report on anything on Jewlicious. A sad state of affairs.
