So now it’s official, UNWRA employs Hamas members. The Agency’s head, Peter Hansen, who is currently embroiled in a fight with the IDF about the Israeli accusation that UN vehicles are used to transport Palestinian rockets (and personnel, but that charge is not being made currently), admitted to the CBC that UNWRA does employ members of Hamas.
He is very nonchalant about the whole thing:
“Oh I am sure that there are Hamas members on the UNRWA payroll and I don’t see that as a crime. Hamas as a political organization does not mean that every member is a militant and we do not do political vetting and exclude people from one persuasion as against another. We demand of our staff, whatever their political persuasion is, that they behave in accordance with UN standards and norms for neutrality.”
In other words, “UN standards and norms for neutrality” allow the employment of terrorists when Israel is involved. Big surprise.
By the way, it is illegal in Canada and the US to support Hamas and its terrorists because it is listed as a terror organization.

I know, hee hee, it’s so hard to give the CBC a compliment… 😀
It’s not just Hansen’s words that are repulsive, it’s his tone. But the fact that CBC aired this clip, well, it’s a step in the right direction.
